In short: Cold and windy but,
In full: Had read about steep climb between miles 2 - 3 but reality was tougher than I imagined. Other than that course was quick with good support and marshalling. A few twists and sharp turns later on could be straightened out.

In short: Awell organised and enjoyable run!
In full: This race has one challenging hill but after that it is very flat and straight for the majority, giving runners the potential to clock a good time if not a PB. Organisation was excellent, quite a few locals out on the route cheering and - had it not been for the overcast weather - it would have been a very scenic run running into the hills and by the seafront. Only problems I would note were that had it been raining the start/finish on the grass could have proved difficult and the section around miles 10-11, where a lot of weaving between residential areas/small bridges occured, was not ideal. But for the price it was very much worth it and I shall be looking forward to running it again next year!

In short: Good race in my home town so happy to support it
In full: The hill between 2 and 3 is a real challenge but the course is flat other than that. Eastbourne seafront in March is always going to be cold and windy but the drummers under the bandstand were superb as was the piper by the Wish Tower. More of that please. And if the course took us through the town centre, we could see more (and more vocal) support too.

In short: The one hill goes on forever, other than that very flat and enjoyable
In full: It was cold and windy, but very enjoyable and a good atmosphere. Coming from a flat part of the country the hill at mile 2 seemed to go on forever. I will have to do some serious hill training in future. Marina area a bot boring after the views along the promenade.

In short: With the great scenery of the coastline and the hilly Downs there’s huge potential for a great course. It was therefore disappointing to end up twisting and turning round a modern housing estate.
In full: My first time at Eastbourne. Great atmosphere, well organised with friendly and encouraging marshals. The first half of the course was fantastic, great scenery, straight and fast with a challenging climb thrown in. The second half was a huge let down. Numerous sharp turns, up and down kerbs while you work your way through a modern Taylor Wimpey style housing estate. This is a great shame, with the sea and the South Downs Eastbourne has so much more to offer. If EHM organisers want to increase the size of this event they need to encourage runners to come back year after year, to do this they really need to change the second half of the course.

In short: Fun race, but not as easy as it may seem at first sight
In full: I am glad this was not my first half marathon. While most of the course is flat, there is a steep and seemingly endless hill between miles 2 and 3 that challenges even seasoned runners. The subsequent downhill stretch is also quite steep and hence hard on the legs and feet (I got a big blister on my left foot). Overall, I enjoyed the run. It was not overly crowded and versatile enough to prevent boredom. The weather was also quite good on the day, except perhaps for the headwind in parts of the race.

In short: Not for the faint hearted. Big climb then mainly flat. The twists, turns, switch backs, ramps and bridges let it down. The route seems drawn out just to make up the distance. Who would want to use this race for a PB?

In short: Great for first timers.
In full: This was my first half marathon and I loved every minute of it. The section round the harbour was a little quiet. On the hill it would have been good to have a walkers side and a runners side as we ran up it but had to dodge the walkers!
