In short: Enjoyable but wasn't prepared for dogs In full: I have read the reviews with interest. I was taken aback when the first dog runner went past me but in the main, the owners were polite and considerate. I would have liked to have been told first about them and agree that they could have started off before the main field. A little thrown when I went past 10km marker and had to keep running - for a second, i thought I had made a dreadful mistake and would have to keep running! Overall, a good race Date of review: November 8, 2010

In short: A lovely autumn run out across challenging terrain. In full: Nice to have the sun shining for this trail run. Slightly longer than the advertised 10k, but better to finish near the car park than at the start like last year. Well done to the marshals/organisers, I'll be back next year.. As for the dogs, I had more problems with ipod wearers, but then thats often the case.. Date of review: November 7, 2010

In short: Hopefully back next year with or without dogs! In full: I've run this course before but not this year due to injury. However very interested to see all the comments about the dogs. I occasionally run with my dog and to the person saying it's an unfair advantage I would just say try it first and then come back and comment. Yes some, but not all, dogs will pull you but you still have to control them and make sure they go the right way (they don't understand signs or marshalls)! You also have to stop to clean up after them, or you damn well should, and let them drink/sniff/pee. Humans also don't get distracted by onlookers, loose dogs, squirrels, rabbits or tree! although apparently some humans get distracted by dogs ;) And don't forget, the dog can only run as fast as the person it's atatched to! Hopefully I'll be fit next year and who knows maybe I'll even bring my dog along if it's still allowed.
Feel free to delete this comment if it's inappropriate as I didn't race, but I thought it only fair to bring some neutral perspective ;) Date of review: November 7, 2010

In short: who let the dogs out? In full: Well prepared race, nice T shirt and friendly staff/marshals. Could have done with a free hot tea to walk back with, and no fruit in the bag. Now, the dogs on the race, I did not expect. I love dogs and have a Collie at home, I just felt they could be in their own race up ahead, the people running with the dogs had a distinct advantage on the hilly course, being pulled along by dog power. Is that fair? It kind of put me off the race. I would be happy to see them and the owners up front but not along with the rest of us. Date of review: November 7, 2010

In short: Why was it not 10k?!?!? In full: Enjoyable race but would have been better if it had actually been 10k for comparative purposes!! Why didn't we start for a bit further on?! Better course than last year and better organisation - nice to see distance markers. Better t-shirt this year! Dogs were a bit of a distraction with long leads, don't think there is a place for them on an organised race, maybe a seperate doggy race might have been an idea? Date of review: November 7, 2010

In short: Fabulous run, wish it could have been longer! In full: Very inviting event, supportive and understanding organisers and marshalls. Loved the course, which was a super challenge for a recently reconstructed ankle. Shame I do not live closer as I would love to run the course on a regular basis. Date of review: November 6, 2010

In short: was my 1st race running with my dog and he loved it , had some great chats with people along the way and didnt hear many negative comments on the way round , i found people running with i-pods got in the way much more than the dogs Date of review: November 6, 2010

In short: Chip timing in the woods! In full: Cross country run - great fun - undulating course. It was all about looking for the firmest ground to keep up the momentum and not lose speed. Lots of serious dogs (huskies, etc), but what a shame not to see them go off with their own start - surely they would have enjoyed it more and we would have enjoyed watching them. In full: As a dog runner it's a shame to see negative comments about the dogs. How anyone can say they got in the way any more than the humans is absolute nonsense. You could just as easily complain about other things, but each to their own I thought this was about fun? Although I agree it might have been a good idea to let the dogs go first.
Anyway great race and definitely would do it again, nice mix of terrain and good running surface for the most part. Date of review: November 6, 2010
