In short: Fun but challenging, friendly and very well organised.
In full: Thoroughly enjoyed the race. Very organised and friendly marshals. Everything went like clockwork which was no mean feat given that this was the first year for this race. Really enjoyed the route, with different terrain including road, beach, muddy tracks etc. I liked the there and back route as it meant we knew what to expect on the way back and got to support the other runners in the opposite direction.

We were particularly lucky this year with mild weather on the day. I should imagine it would have been considerably less enjoyable if it had been wet or windy or colder on the day.

Very little to fault the race or the organisation. There was plenty of water (even bottled water) and free fuel gels and jelly babies etc. Very friendly marshals.

One suggestion for next year. It would be great if there could be a few more marshals to direct runners through a few of the more challenging areas of the route. Although turns were marked with arrows, a few of them were not completely visible, particularly towards the end when runners were exhausted, and a few runners lost their way.

Congratulations to the organisers for a very successful race.

In short: Well organised race!
In full: Great race and run like clockwork. nice course with very mixed terrain, Road, grass, single track and shingle. thought the out and back might have been a problem as it was a bit tight in places but proved me wrong , although in some places on the single track it was easy to get stuck behind slower runners and hold you up a bit but could live with that :-). nice touch with the free grub at the finish and mince pie! would defo do it again.

In short: Good winter marathon
In full: Good race to enter to keep training going when it gets dark. Course equally suitable for going for a pb or just taking it as a nice training run.

In bad weather I can imagine it could get miserable, especially if the wind got up, but this year it was mild and calm.

In short: Absolutely superb race
In full: Great mixed terrain, brilliant organisation and marshalling and really good value too. We were also blessed with great weather (given the recent snow and sub-zero temperatures) which made for perfect conditions and I got a big PB :)

In short: Really well organised race for beginners and veterans alike.
In full: Read the rest of the reviews, they mirror my thoughts. As someone running towards the back, I have a little advice for next year. Get a move on. By the time I got back to Southsea the tide had come in and I got very wet feet (all part of he marathon experience) Its given me the incentive to get the training right for next year so I can finish with nice dry feet.
So keep your eyes peeled as I can thoroughly recommend this race and I will expect it to sell out as quickly as London does in the future.
