In short: Good course but waterlogged this year
In full: On any other day, that hadn't been preceded by two weeks of rain, this course would have been a joy to run. As it was it was a mudbath on the return leg. I foolishly wore road running shoes and as a result slipped and fell three times - thank you to the other runners who offered to pick me up at the 17 mile mark.

Support and marshalling was good and friendly. Small improvements that could be made - add a sign on first turnstile and baggage area should be controlled and marshalled.

Would I do it again ? Only if the rain stays away.

In short: Good fum in muddy conditions
In full: My first Marathon so was not sure what to expect.
Nice route made interesting with all of the mud and shingle beaches.
Glad I asked around at the start and ran in hybrid shoes.
Atmosphere at drinks stations was much appreciated.
Thanks to all involved in organising

In short: Flat, but don't let that fool you.
In full: Other than the last 2 miles along the seafront I thoroughly enjoyed it. Much of the race is in paths which is interesting in itself but after a week of rain was a complete mud bath. Marshals and organisers were great. Not sure about the moans on water stations, they were well stocked with water, gels, jelly babies and the odd Xmas tipple! If fast road marathons and Pb's are your thing then this isn't for you, if you like a tough, fun challenge setting you up for Xmas then this is perfect!

In short: thank God it stayed dry !
In full: A decent event which was well organised but
the bag drop was not great, it should have
been marshalled I think. My bag was dirty/muddy
when I collected it-caused by other runners
I presume who had not removed their muddy boots.
Never had rum or brandy before during a race so
that was different. I thought the first drinks
stop was too far from the start/finish area
and was poorly organised on the outward loop.
Personally, I thought the field was too big for
the nature of the route but there you go.
The conditions were terrible underfoot and was
sorry to see several runners go over-not nice.
To me, this race served a purpose but I much
prefer road marathons and how people say this
is a PB course I just dont get.
Well done to all involved, and hopefully a
nice sum was raised for a worthy cause.
PS the hot shower was brilliant !!

In short: Bit wet underfoot
In full: 2nd year running this one, less windy than last year (and warmer too). Muddy in places and slippery underfoot - saw a few people go flying - definitely a race for shoes with plenty of grip.

Always impressive seeing the lead runners on the way back when you are still miles from the turnaround. Respect to the Gingerbread man too - bet that was tough going when the the wind got up.

Aid stations well placed and well stocked, enjoyed the mulled wine - I am blaming that for slowing down so much on the return leg.

Clif bar and socks were a nice find in the goody back - thanks to marshals and organisers.
