In short: Nice course, a few organisational niggles, very busy in sections.
In full: Firsty, this is a race which helps raise money for the RNLI, however there were a few niggles in the organisation. The course was flat with some muddy offroad, nothing too taxing, however some sections were extremely busy with both runners and public, particularly the last 2miles zigzagging through families, dogs, kids on bikes and runners coming the other way on the esplanade. Marshalling and signposting was just about adequate, the finish funnel was very slow to get through though, just glad it was a nice warm day. Having said that everyone was very friendly and enthusiastic and this would be a nice first half for beginners, the medal and goody bag were good too. Perhaps the entries need to be capped at a lower number though?

In full: First ever half marathon and pleased with my Seventh position however this may have been better without several episodes of going the wrong way! Sparse marshalling and signposting meant running slower than race pace through fear of ending up in the channel! only 3 water station with open cups meant I was gasping at the end! Running in a non closed of race meant lots of zigzagging around 'spectators'. Friendly race but killer mud fields and shingle bays were murder. Fun but could do better!

In short: Well organised small scale half marathon. Multi terrain course with some of it along the beech. Great value for money, will definitely be doing it again next year.

In short: Really enjoyed this race. Very well organised and great course. Only my third marathon and my first ever trail race, so was delighted with a PB nearly 30mins. Thouroughly recomend this one.

In short: The third year of this marathon - the Portsmouth Coastal Marathon has got to be one of the toughest flat marathons in the country
In full: Unlike last year’s morning after the night before, this year I woke up without a hangover - hooray. For my 60th I celebrated into the small hours following the 1st marathon of my 60 and a great launch party at the Queens Hotel. Last night however, it was a small family get together for a nice meal and one (or was it two glasses of wine) a birthday cake made by my daughter Lussi and a relatively early night. Yes, this morning I had more marathon business to attend to and my chauffeur Ronald and I left for Pompy just after 7.00am, or to be more precise the Pyramid Leisure Centre, Southsea. I had run the inaugural Portsmouth Coastal Marathon in 2010 in a time of 3:47 which I was really pleased with considering it was my 9th marathon in 10 weeks. The idea then was that those 9 marathons were a trial run to see if my body could cope with running a marathon every week. That 3:47 convinced me my body could even though running 9 marathons is a lot different to running 60 - If you would like to read more then check out my full blog here at http://60in60at60.com/2012/12/23/m53-portsmouth-coastal/

In short: Mixed terrain, coastal path route
In full: Nice course - mixed terrain along the coastal path.
Like many other runners was unsure whether to wear trail shoes after the recent deluges but given that a large amount of the course is on hard surfaces, opted for road shoes.
Well organised race, lots of water stations which were well stocked with water, squash, bananas, sweets and biscuits as well as brandy and mulled wine.
Friendly atmosphere - spent most of the event beaming.
Great goodie bag and medal, and the use of the pyramids before and after the event was hugely appreciated - as was the free soup or tea and mince pies.
A wonderful last marathon for 2012... thank you!

In short: Best I have ran in ages, felt good. The goody bag was fab- lets hope that a certain marathon along the coast in April takes note, that this was not full of paper adverts, also its £20 cheaper, well done Portsmouth.
