In short: Great views & hideous climbs In full: I now fear 'The Big W' and the course is very tough. However the marshalls along the whole course were very friendly and encouraging. The views were also great. Date of review: October 13, 2010

In short: Bring Your A-Game In full: I absolutely loved this challenging race...however this is not the race to "find out" whether you can run 20 miles or rather you can overcome hills...
While there are always people who can just show up and do well, I strongly recommend that you do at least 4 weeks of hill work and 2 long runs (14+ miles) before doing this race...
You hill work can be as simple as making sure 1 or 2 of your weekly runs incorporates a few hills...

In short: Blimming hard but great scenery In full: Great race. Loved all the hills - it was definitely the wind that killed me. Good training for an end of year trail marathon or ultra. Date of review: October 11, 2010

In short: Great prep for Beachy Head In full: A lovely but very challenging race, well organised with some nice touches, encouraging marshalls which really helped! Beautiful (if slightly warm) weather made the most of the stunning scenery so it wasn't just the hills that were breathtaking! Will be back no doubt! Date of review: October 11, 2010

In short: Another great race - tough but keeps calling me back! In full: I can't sty away from this one - my 3rd running and great final training for eithe Beachy Head or Snowdonia marathons two weeks later. Thanks to all the marshals again, doing a great job as usual. Nice to be cheered off by the 8k racers beforehand! I'll definitely be back next year. Date of review: October 26, 2009

In short: Thanks once again In full: Many thanks to Sam and all those who help him put this on; once again it was a great way to spend a Sunday morning.
If they want to chnage anything then:
1. Ask runners to keep to the off road cliff top path (not the tarmac cycle lane) between the marina and Rottingdean both on the way out and the way back; it's advertised as a trail race so this would seem to keep with the spirty of the event.
2. Place the Rottingdean water station at the top of the road by the reservoir; no need to interupt the long down hill and brings it a bit closer to the previous one.

In short: mountain goats would struggle In full: never done a race over 13 miles before and i dont think this one was designed for novice long distance runners. challenging is not the word but very happy with my time. More of a race to trin for than a marathon trainer i think maybe i will do some more hills before trying it again Date of review: October 12, 2009
