In short: Well marked and organised race with nice views. Massive hill halfway, so not a PB race but will do it again.

In short: My first marathon - fun, but hard work. Hit 'the wall' as I hit 'the hill' second time round.
In full: I really enjoyed this run, nice clear marshalling, friendly people, generally good atmosphere - niggles (personal) the biggest hill was murder the second time around, catching up with the stragglers early on from the half marathon did not help me keep my speed down (my fault essentially though!) also did I miss them or were there no 24 & 25 mile markers?

In short: Generally well organised friendly race with plenty of local charm.
In full: 3rd time I've done this race and I prefer the new start/finish venue to the old racecourse one. The traffic was a bit annoying but not sure how you'd get around this. Always seem to have a good run here and managed to knock a few minutes off my London time - I love the hills!

In short: pleasant run, nice scenery, only tweaks needed might be at start/finish
In full: Only did the half so course was fine, not sure if I'd have enjoyed the hill second time round! Shame we could'nt all have started together, found the mile markers confusing as you had to check if they were for the half or the full, and got mixed up round about 7. Also felt sorry for the nice man giving out the half prizes as by the time they announced it most of the runners were long gone, hope the same did'nt happen to the full marathoners! But overall a nice feelgood run.

In short: A good testing marathon
In full: I thought doing 2 loops would be annoying but I was wrong, Meant you were aware of what was coming up. Apart from no changing facilities the HQ was well organised & I didn't see any of the other minor issues others have mentioned. 5 minute delay not an issue & I think this was caused by late arrivals. Fair play to the organisers for allowing for the delay although participents should arrive early (I do just to get settled) I will withdraw this comment should there have been any traffic issues. Very scenic when out of town. An extra water station would be a good idea but I think the warm day was not expected

In full: This was one of the best organised races I have attended in 30 years of running. The number of marshalls, police and St Johns' was amazing and all were so freindly. Even the police stood in the middle of a roundabout directing traffic as we came back into the town were cheering us on. Although for the marathon the route consists of 2 laps, the scenery is varied enough to compensate. Not a PB course but will certainly feature on my 'favourites' list

In short: Home territory
In full: A must for me as it's on my home patch, I do lots of long training runs on sections of the route, so I knew what to expect! The clay pits road is not the best, but once you get off that it's pretty good. A good testing hill, especially second time round.
The marshals were a bit on the quite side (not like Eden!) but generally I would have to say an average sort of race. That said it's one I would do again.

In short: Not as good as last year - some teething problems with the venue
In full: Ran much faster than last year. There were a couple of issues at the start but well marshalled throughout. The downside for the ample parking is running towards leaving traffic down to the finish line. May need to be tweaked a little for next year.

In short: shame about the start but overall was excellent
In full: The course was very good and the finish was fine it was just the start was a chaotic as no obvious start line with people starting strung out and then funneling in together quite soon.

In short: Brilliant, well organised, best cake/coffee/burger stall I've seen at any race!
In full: There were one or two minor moans overheard, hardly surprising to have a few niggles on first time at a new venue, but they were very minor and overall the event was very well organised, in particular the direction marshals - lots of them and very clear instruction. The scenery wasn't all great but it was such a beautiful day it didn't matter. We were well rewarded for the climbs with long rolling views over the moor, especially towards Haytor Rocks (at least twice). The generally interesting route seemed to fly by. 'THE HILL' (see several of the reviews below - not as challenging as they make out (thankfully). Many thanks to all those involved, and in particular the WRN who put on the best refreshment spread I've seen at a race. A great friendly race; my PB is the icing on the cake.
