In short: Great to run point-to-point off-road between such special places - some of the best chalk downland
In full: My first marathon, which I knew would be a challenge, but it certainly was tough. Wind and rain to start not great for the spirits, but the friendly organisers, participabts and especially encouraging walkers were all fantactic. First 6 miles are particularly magnificent countryside, views, and as dramatic as chalk downland gets: really enjoyable - last 6 not so great until Stonehenge looms up. Overall a very well organised and fantastically rewarding challenge, with some really memorable bits - I could well be back!

In short: Done the half-marathon. This was my first run and I loved it, the course was very hilly but made for a good challenge. Will be back next year and try to beet the 2 hours.

In short: Brrr - taken 24hrs to feel the ends of my fingers again
In full: A race of 2 halves this one - started out cold, windy, wet and muddy underfoot and ended cold, windy, dry and hard underfoot.

Did this last year when it was warmer, this year the wind across the plain definately chilled bits that shouldn't be chilled.

This is a tougher course that it appears - those undulations across Salisbury Plain are a killer - up and down and up and down, repeating for miles.

Organisation is first rate, everyone at the marshalls station was positive.

I was a little slow at the back but it did give me a psychological advantage overtaking lots of people (even if they were on the walkers route)

In short: oh my goodness this ones a character builder!!
In full: My first marathon and many lessons learnt. I hadn't expected the fell run and mud in the first 5 miles which left me with jelly legs for the remaining 21 miles however despite the leg burning I loved it. The organisation was wonderfully cheery if not a little hap hazard and the water points frequent. The cup of tea at the end and the medal was superb! Miles were poorly marked but the scenery and value for money was brilliant. It was nice that lots of events started at the same time as you never felt on your own however slow your legs got. Brilliant in so many ways but my goodness what a leg burner!!!

In short: Amazing organisation!
In full: I did the half, and was amazed at the number of walkers who were out in the terrible weather. The organisation was absolutely terrific, with sign boards all over the place, water stations in the middle of nowhere and lots of tents and goodies at the end. I put 100% for PB potential, because I got a half marathon PB, breaking a seven-year old record of mine. Must have been the trailing wind and overall downhill course. Very impressed with the race - great cameraderie with the other runners as well. Many thanks to the organisers.

In short: Well organised, friendly but not easy. Great support and organisation made up for the weather.

In short: Mud mud glorious mud!
In full: Great run, very well marshalled and organised. Ideal first trail marathon as plenty of water stations, well sign posted and no chance of losing your way! Being near the back of the field we were glad to have the company of the walkers and appreciated the very enthusiastic welcome back at Stonehenge. Pizza and cakes were delicious and much appreciated! Nice medal! Shame about the weather - nearly got blown away at the top of the first big hill - but all added to the challenge! Glad to be wearing trail shoes. Was rather hillier across Salisbury Plain than we anticipated but understand that was a last minute route change due to MOD operations. Would definately recommend and hope to be back for more!

In short: 2nd visit and it didn't disappoint (although the weather did)
In full: Ran this last year and the weather was great; differant story today - the first five miles up hill are pretty tough anyway but with road shoes and too much mud, and the the biting head wind and driving rain on top of the hill I really wished I hadn't bothered. The course is nicely balanced between road, track and grass and certainly more than 'undulating' in places but with so many walkers, you really feel part of something. My last half dozen marathons have been road races so to come back to off road was tougher than I had hoped but I still managed to knock 10 minutes off of last year, just missing the four hours on this one.
Great run and as a local, will be back next year.

In short: Did the half marathon - hillier route than before but the following wind helped!
In full: Always get a warm glowing feeling after this race as the organisers are so grateful for the support ! Have never wanted to run a race less, huddling in the marquee at Charlton Clumps in the rain and wind before the start, but once we got going and the rain stopped it was fine, and the following wind made for a good time despite the changed route being hillier than before. A very friendly race, and something that bit different - am sure I will be back.

In short: Gem of a race
In full: So lucky with the weather, if we had run it in reverse it would have been a different story, the wind was horrendous. Quite a bit of weaving, avoiding the pot holes and walkers, but still a cracking race.
