In short: Flat off road route, too narrow to easily pass slower runners in the fist 2 miles until the field was more spread out. Found the route very repetitive running along by the side of the sea wall for roughly 9 out of 10km. Date of review: September 14, 2010
In short: First time run a 10k, great amotsphere, well organised, good one to start with. In full: First time i've run a 10k. The course is out along the seawall, makes it hard to do any overtaking for a good mile because of the wall one side and barriers the other, but in fairness this makes you keep to a steady pace and you dont try and go off to quick. Very well marshalled, bit stoney underfoot in places and about 3 or 4 water points, were giving out bottles but with lids off, would have preferred sports lids and then you wouldn't need to throw them. Overall, great first race and lovely atmosphere with people coming out of there houses to cheer you on. Medal for all finishers Would definately run again Date of review: September 12, 2010
In short: Good race but terrain is a little tough at times where it keeps changing under foot! In full: Well worth doing. This race is a good one to do and while the terrain can be a little challenging it is not too much too worry about. Support due to the route taken is somewhat minimal but picks up when u come into the home stretch!!! Give it a go!!!! Date of review: July 14, 2010
In short: Well organised and well marshalled. Friendly race. In full: Would prefer marker points in kilometers. And cups of water would be better than bottles - lot of wastage. Date of review: September 14, 2009
In short: thoroughly enjoyable In full: As my first ever race i found it thoroughly enjoyable. Particularly enjoying the supportive atmosphere created by the other runners, marshals and locals. This was coupled with a good boost at the end from the supportive spectators and a commentator offering words of encouragement as you crossed the finish line. The course was slightly slippery in parts and narrow but with no other races to compare it with i assumed hazards like this were probably the norm.
In short: Good Local Event, Well Organised In full: This was my first 10k and thoroughly enjoyed it. Found the canvey wind and uneven pathway along the seawall a challenge but the event was well marshalled with lots of support from the locals along the way.It would help if markers where in KM's rather than miles especially for a novice like me but other than that well organised. Will be back next year for another go! Date of review: September 9, 2008
In short: Good estuary views and small field of runners In full: Despite having misgivings over the weather conditions (that Canvey wind) and running along the seawall (narrow, slippery and a few surprised dog walkers), I really enjoyed this run and achieved PB this year.
The support and policing around the course was great and having the local mayor handing out the finishers medals was a really nice touch.
The course was well marshalled except at the entrance to the school where you had one guy trying to direct traffic and runners at the same time. I narrowly missed getting run over!
Well done to the organisers and sponsors for putting on a excellent day. Date of review: September 8, 2008
