In short: A fantastic 33 mile trail race. A must for anyone who wants a challenge! In full: Fantastic, well organised, challenging. A race for everyone whether a fast ultra runner or a walk/jogger. Generous cut off and a sensible bail out option for struggling runners to make it an 'easier' 20 miles:-) Date of review: May 13, 2013
In short: Excellent race, wonderful scenery and great marshals In full: This was my first Ultra and I thoroughly enjoyed it. The organisation was smooth, the marshals were friendly, helpful and encouraging and the route was excellent. The route has a few signs but mainly you have to rely on the person in front or the route description and map, if you choose to mark one up in advance. This meant a few tricky bits and on two occasions I found myself doubling back after running a hundred metres in the wrong direction. Its mainly on tracks and footpaths with some tough hills but some equally nice downhill's. Great value too. Would highly recommend as a first ultra. Thank you Marlborough Running Club Date of review: May 12, 2013
In short: Tough initiation... In full: This was my first ever ultra marathon, and after hauling my wrecked carcass over the line in 6 hours, I have to say that this is one tough event! Brilliantly organised and extremely good value for money, the first half in particular took in some truly gorgeous scenery, from bluebell woods to sweepings vistas across the downs. Once the pain has subsided, I will be able to reflect on a really special race - thanks Marlborough Runners! Date of review: May 12, 2013
In short: Another great day. Weather was not kind though. In full: Second year done. This is a great course, highly recommended. The weather started hot and sunny; then got overcast and great for running; then turned to steady rain. A headwind in the first half was a challenge. Well done to Marlborough Running Club for putting this on again. Date of review: May 12, 2013
In short: Superb event as always In full: I did the 33 in 2003 and 2004 and got roped in to come back this year. Not having done anything longer than a half marathon since 2004, I was glad I split off for the 20 at the third checkpoint. Glorious scenery, excellent and friendly marshals and checkpoint staff, great organisation, lovely food and drink after, lovely mug as memento. So glad I did it again. Date of review: May 14, 2012
In short: First Ultra; I'll be back for more it was so good. In full: Did the 20 in 2009 and have been meaning to come back and do the 33 ever since. Thanks so much to MRC for such a friendly well run race! Date of review: May 14, 2012
In short: first Ultra= EXCELLENT In full: This was my first Ultra and I am already online looking for another! The scenery and areas which this race encompassed were amazing, stunning infact. The drinks stations were well stocked and all marshalls friendly. However, if you like your courses lined with supporters shouting you on, this race isn't for you.
I will be doing this again next year! Well done to al concerned :-) Date of review: May 13, 2012
