In short: Good potential messed up by Missing Marshall
In full: I really looked forward to this race for some time as Its even more local for me than the Pots and Clayton .
As with first time events you'd expect a minor hitch or two.
Sadly it was the least minor hitch possible as the case of the "missing marshall" caused all but one of the 600+ runners to go the wrong way and thus make the course nearly .75 miles shorter than it should have been , and lets be fair ... if there is one thing that you need to be right on the day its the distance more so than any of the other paraphanelia that needs to be correct.

I'd do it again but I would not want to be sold short again.

In short: Potential to have been a good race but messed up.
In full: This had the chance to be a good race, it had good backing, roads were closed, the route although having one big hill gave you a chance afterwards but there is no excuse for directing runners the wrong way, the course was well short and what made it worse for me and others is that I was loking at a seasons best and so were others. Fun runners were allowed to start at the same time which caused confusion and collisions at the point where they break from the group. It seems funny that an individual can organise the Potteries Marathon/Potters Half without a hitch for 20 years and the Stoke council mess up there first attempt although as someone who works for the council I ask myself why am I suprised. If they do it again next year pleae give it another go as it could be good.

In short: Organisation bad, distance short by about 1km, fun runners started with main group.
