In short: A great well organised race In full: A fantastic atmosphere throughout the race. Well organised with plenty of volunteers and a big thank you to the Race Angels for encouraging you up that last hill.
In short: The organisation of a major event with the friendliness of a club run In full: This race ticks all the boxes; a beautiful city, warm people, faultless organisation, crowds at every town and village and farmers at every gate, top pacemakers, the kids at the waterstations all mad as a box of frogs. 700 volunteers for 5,000 runners says it all...and they all cheered me as if I was the hero! No, Chester, you were the heroes. Date of review: October 6, 2015
In short: A lovely undulating but fair course In full: There were enough runners to make this race feel special but still plenty of room to run (a bit busy in the 3.30 pace pack but that's to be expected)This is an excellent course passing through some lovely Cheshire and Welsh countryside...There is a cheeky hill in mile 26 so be warned! In short: near perfect marathon event. In full: an amazing ,well organised event with great marshals and volunteers. having your name on your number is great as so many volunteers and spectators call out your name ,which spurs you on. plenty of water stations with gels and sports drinks . just a great event that's organised very well . only issue was traffic getting to the official car park on the race course. it took 45 minutes to travel less than 2 miles from my b&b so just allow plenty of time for that . most certainly recommend chester ,and I would defo do it again. got a pb too which was a bonus. In short: MAGIC MARATHON In full: Ran the Chester again this year after bagging my PB here in 2012 - and it was as good as ever. Inspiring start at the Racecourse, brilliant course, stirring support out in the villages, over the Welsh border, amazing finish. And spot-on organisation as well as well-stocked drinks stations and very supportive marshals.... What's not to like?? Even the sun came out. If you're looking to run your first marathon or targeting a PB look no further - Chester's just the boy.
In short: fantastic day In full: second time running this race, I really enjoyed the whole day once again. Organisation was amazing, as well as the supply of toilets/water/lucozade/gels throughout, weather was great both times, course was fantastic, but the thing that stands out the most is the support from volunteers and spectators, it's second to none. I said this would be my last marathon but I had such a great time I'm thinking of doing it again! Date of review: October 6, 2015
In short: Utterly glorious day and a smashing PB to boot In full: Organised by runners for runners, and it shows; great attention to detail. Welcoming crowds, fast route; excellent water stations. Really no complaints at all. Date of review: October 6, 2015
In short: nearly faultless In full: great course, scenery, support and organisation. only criticism - and its such a minor one that I'm almost afraid to raise it - is the section when the metric runners joined the marathoners. The course became very narrow and with big differentials in pace (I was running c.3.25) it became a little awkward even it wasn't really congested - I spent much of next few miles running in/out of the cones down the middle of the road to avoid runners to my left. maybe alter the timing so that the races merge at roughly same pace? that aside it was outstanding.
