In short: Challenging Course
In full: A challenging course with a tough hill for the first 1 km. Undulating for the rest of the run. The run through the woods was great. Good organisation and even laid on 2 extra water stops due to hot weather. The course was very well marked with excellent marshalling. A job well done.

In full: The Hughenden 10K is a great race which is mostly off road. The race started off in a field of cows, but they leave you alone. I could have done with jumping on one to get up the big hill at the start. This race is mainly on farmers tracks and on trails through the woods and is the hardest 10K that I have done, but there again, I'm probably too soft!! There is a good down hill finish at the end. Plenty of on-site parking and food and refreshments after. This was the first year for this race and Purple Patch Runners did very well with the smooth organisation.

In short: In terms of organsiation, this is the best race I have ever taken part in.
In full: In terms of organsiation, this is the best race I have ever taken part in.

The directions and marshalling was superb.

I particularly appreciated the reminders of obstacles in the woodlands.

The marshals were very supportive and patient.

Looking forward to next year's race already!

In short: Well marked route, well marshalled, well hilly!
In full: Yep, PB if you are a mountain goat, but the scenery was fabulous, and as a trail run it was varied with shade for most of the route. Usual Purple Patch smooth organisation that really sets the standard for others.
Really good that the run started at 9:30 to avoid the heat later in the day. Obviously planned by people who know about running.

In short: Steep
In full: Fabulously well organised event - car park found easily and signs to start v.good. Walk back to car (up hill) was tough after doing all uphill mountainous climbs during the race. The challenge of the 1st hill paid off in the cool of the woods - but PB potential was shot to bits from hill at start - didn't seem to recover after than and walked all of the inclines thereafter. Brilliant long downhill finish. Very well organised. Lovely atmosphere. Will be back next year - thank you.
PS: Entry price a bit steep - would put people off when searching around.

In short: Great route, hilly, hard but will be back!
In full: That first climb was tough on the legs, but overall the route was very scenic and challenging. The downhill run through the woods was great, but that short steep incline at 7k where the photographer probably caught me walking was not fun, but with a lovely downhill back to the finish was able to make up a smidge of time. Overall an enjoyable race and will be back in 2011.

In short: Tough, good scenery but I thought expensive for a basic 10K
In full: Good tough run, glad it started at 9:30ish as soon got warm. Friendly and fun, my only real gripe was the cost. £18 for an on the day non-affiliated runner is very steep. The goody bag was basic and no chip timing. I know its for charity but so are many 10Ks. I'd like to see people encouraged to have a go at events but understand how forking out £18 might just put the undecided off. Shame really but my 2 pennies worth.
