In short: You know what you get.. good course.. can be windy..nice and flat.. In full: I did this for the 2nd year knowing the course would be the right distance (cardiff races make note !).. it would be traffic free and hastle free.. and it was.. The race is on the coast so it can be windy but as it is up and back you get the benefit and the hurt as well.. so i think it evens it self out..
i enjoyed seeing other runners going the opposite way as i could say hello to my other club runners..(and see the leaders three times.. i never get to see them in other races..) the road surface is very good to run on.. smooth and even for most of the route.. the costal path is very smooth and enjoyable to run on..
the water stops have bottles with tops you can sip from.. no plastic cups..(i dispare on some races.. how orgnaisers think those cups are any use at all..)..even races like berlin have those annoying plastic cups - which is the last thing you want at 20 miles slow down drink and speed up again..
So.. you wont get sports drinks, buy this t shirt get this logo.. etc.. but you well get a well orgnaised race.. you can park right near the start you dont have to walk miles and mile and there is enough parking..(other races note.. cardiff bay! not a good idea!).. and well marshalled..
If i'm marathon training again next year.. i'll be back.. as its a good pratice event..
In short: The course is nice and flat with only a headwind to upset things at the end. Loops within a business park aren't very exciting In full: Bit disappointed at the lack of a goodie bag, t-shirt or even a banana, but the golden shoe is different! Rubbish cap though. Ran with my 18 year old daughter for whom this was her first distance event. Having nursed stomach pain back to the start after the first loop, she and I were disgusted that none of the portaloo's had any toilet paper. This is just lazy organisation and I was livid. Luckily the stomach pain subsided and we even managed a smile at the end, but the overall race management is poor (marshalls were good though) Date of review: March 6, 2012
In short: Am happy with that In full: Another PB and looking forward to the new course and venue. Thank you to the organisers and marshals. Chuffed with the hay and golden shoe! Date of review: March 6, 2012
In short: Fresh sea air, undulating course, few but enthusiastic supporters ! In full: It was my first time on this course and I loved the fresh air, even the wind that made the last 3 miles quite tough. Personally I didn't mind doubling back on myself as I picked out freinds who were also running. Maybe a little too much dog poo on parts of the course , but otherwise I thought it was lovely. Loos were in the wrong place, but as the course is changing next year it no longer matters. May have been a bit tighter if everyone had turned up on the day but I never felt too crowded. Nice trophy, personally I could have done with a bag but as has already been said that may be the new charge coming in. The free massage was THE BEST I have ever had. Well worth the wait. We had a great day and will be back next year. Date of review: March 6, 2012
