In short: You have to be freaky to be a member of BVR ! In full: This BVR organised event is the most fun you can have running on sand and uphill ! The whole club got involved, young and old, dressed at each turn in attire suitable for the day, absolutely brilliant, great club spirits ! Date of review: October 30, 2011
In short: Brilliant. Top marks to BV runners In full: Absolutely superb, with something for everyone. A challenge for the more serious runner, and great fun for the not-so-fast. A tough course, but the costumes and decorations and wonderful scenery made it throroughly enjoyable. The organization was perfect, and it was a joy to see all those delightful children entering into the spirit of the thing in their stunning costumes. The trick or treat bag at the end was generously filled, and the pumpkin medal is terrific! Many thanks to the organizers and marshalls for all their hard work. I'll be back next year. In short: A friendly local trail race on a warm day a challeninging scenic course In full: Ran with a friend and really enjoyed the friendly atmosphere. I enjoyed seeing the marshalls who were all in fancy dress and also lots of children in scary costumes handing out sweets and getting into the Halloween theme. An excellent race split into 10K and 10 mile, the latter I will definitely race next year. Good job by Blackwater Valley Runners Date of review: October 30, 2011
In short: Great route finding all the sand, mud and hills on Hankley common! In full: A very well organised cross country race in great company i shall certainly be back for more of the same next year and will encourage my fellow club members to run next year - that is the ones who are fit enough.Like others have mentioned it would have been nice to have the race details on the medal.I must say how well the course was signed and marshalled especially with all the hard work that must have been put in with the Halloween theme markings. In short well done to everyone who organised the event. In short: Great course shame about the medals and lack of prizes for £14! In full: A fantastic course, well organised and on a par with the Surrey Slog! It was a shame the medals did not name the event and simply gave the name of the running club that organised the event. At the price, prizes for 1st, 2nd, 3rd etc would have been welcome. In short: Great atmosphere, Great organisation, Great course, Great costumes and signs In full: A toughish cross country course, not for beginners. The organisers and marshalls really went to town on the Halloween theme which made the course a lot more interesting. I certainly recommend the race Date of review: November 3, 2010
In short: A unique and enjoyable run. TRY IT - You'll love it !! In full: It's a cold, soggy October morning and you're comfortably tucked up in bed. Why on earth would you drag yourself out of bed, go down to the woods and run up a series of steep sandy hills .. ?! Here's why …
1) Scenery - Hankley Common is recognised as one of Southern England’s most attractive stretches of countryside and rightly so. The autumn colours make for some sumptuous views – even in overcast conditions.
2) The Course - A great mix of terrain and hills keep the run varied and interesting. Furthermore, it’s challenging enough for the fanatics yet manageable for the sane.
3) Organisation - I found the course to be well marked, well marshaled and well thought out. Nice touch with the Halloween gear too.
In short; a unique and very enjoyable run. I would have no hesitation recommending this event to runners of all levels.
