In short: A most beautiful setting, with some of the best Marshals to be found anywhere
In full: The most perfect setting for a Marathon, with excellent marshaling. An undulating course that always kept you working. Race can be improved with accurate mile markers, no sign of the energy drinks at 18-20 miles (as advertised) Organisers either changed the start or need to increase the time necessary to get there, race 15 minutes late starting-too cold to be left standing around. Only two gents toilet cubicals at start, need more. Trying to be constructive! but a great marathon all the same.

In short: Top route: Great views & enough to make you work!
In full: *Excellent parking / cafe facilities.
*Great route
*Great Marshalls and Organisers
*Friendly at the back...
*Doing it again, but will train with more hill work - lots of little climbs with a big "un" of undulating at around the 21mile mark.

In short: Boy, do I hurt this morning
In full: An excellent marathon in a superb setting and glorious weather- the rainbow at the start was a really nice touch! But I never anticipated the relentless little hills and the endless cattle grids - and by the end they really did take their toll despite the fact that my training was all done on the Pennines. The jelly babies at the second to last water stop were great but I could have done with a few more boosts at the last few water stops and something to eat at the finish - eg an iced bun or a bar of chocolate - would have been greatly appreciated. Otherwise, a great run and one that I will definately recommend.

In short: Tough but ultimately rewarding trail race
In full: A real tough challenge.
Hillier and harder than I thought it would be with multiple-terrain surfaces mixing it up just for good measure.
Got off to a poor start with a bone-chilling 1.5ml walk to the start just above freezing with a polar bear wind blasting in off the water!
Glorious scenery around Rutland on a gorgeous autumnal day.
But some of the stretches of the race were always going to be lonely because you're so isolated out in the countryside.
Top T-shirt and medal, the marshals and army cadets out on route were supportive and cheerful...
All in all a very special race.

In short: Hard work, but good fun.
In full: Given that it was the first one the organisation was spotless, registration was quick, parking was easy, and relatively cheap.

Blinking cold though, had to buy a hat, and ended up wearing four layers by the finish !

Beautiful course around the reservoir, with some good company.

However, I felt terrible most of the first 10miles with breakfast wanting to make a reappearance

My back 'went' at about 12miles and this cause me problems with my hamstrings & sciatica until the finish.

I was reduced to hobbling the remainder of the way, but the marshals were fantastic throughout.

Shuffled home in a dispiriting 6hrs 25mins, but enjoyed it nonetheless.

Apart from me being crap, I'd recommend it.

In short: Great Trail Marathon, that is by no means Flat!
In full: Really enjoyed the marathon. Lovely route even with the two lap section, I felt a little sorry for those being lapped but most seemed to be enjoying the event. Some minor issues, Mile markers where out, and the lack of sports drinks to help in the later stages. Also a technical T would have been much nicer as a gift at the end as there is no way not I will wear cotton when running.
I will enter again, well done to Fa-Feet on their first Marathon :-)

In short: Everything Hurts!
In full: Pros: Not many prettier races out there.

Cons: Mile and a half walk to the start.
Totally inaccurate mile markers.
Much more undulating than promised.
Sheep.

In short: Superb.
In full: The mile markers were puzzling and the total ascent something over 850ft. Longer walk than expected to the start. Everything else was superb. Tough but worth it.
