In short: fantastic, loved every minute of it In full: they need to set people off in stages, as it was a little packed on the cycle path, that spoils your rhythm and pace. the only way to get ahead of the crowd is to get to the start line first. apart from that i loved every minute, and got a PB which was a surprise. In short: Great Orme, Great Run and a PB what more could you ask for. In full: A great event overall, my few grumbles would be water stations were not as advertised, the type of container the water was in and the quantity of it was difficult to manage, and finally the sand on the bike path maybe could have been removed.
Looking back at it I have no idea how I managed a PB. This was my 3rd Half Marathon in 6 weeks and the 3rd PB knocking 13 minutes off my Royal Parks Half time set 6 weeks ago, that being a relatively flat course in comparison to Conwy.

In short: Hilly, glorious scenery a few minor irritations but overall a great challenge In full: How anyone got a PB is beyond me- the climb up the Great Orme put paid to my intentions. A few minor gripes - too few loos, a cramped path for first 2 miles made pacing difficult, the finish was chaotic for people like me finishing >2hrs. But the scenery is glorious, I enjoyed the run and like the t-shirt (paid extra for the tech version) and medal. Date of review: November 21, 2011

In short: Running in Conwy/ LLandudno make it special . In full: As I said , beautiful place to run . Conquering the Great Orme is such an achievement . On the downside , and I have done all 3 races so far , some things need sorting out if this race is ever going to expand . The first few miles running on a coastal path is far too congested . Need to get it on proper roads or set people off in waves . No one ever takes notice of time markers at start . Also finish is just a shambles , with spectators getting in runners way . And the toilet facilities were useless . No sign of changing facilities either . Still a great race though but could be better . Date of review: November 21, 2011

In short: A little hill work..... In full: It is advertised as a scenic course and I can confirm that, added too with the unseasonal sunny November weather. Was aware of what the ascent of the Great Orme would be like from the Nick Beer 10k and paced myself accordingly so wasn't too bad and rewarded with the views and childlike running / hurtling down the other side. Wasn't aware of the sand section which did break rhythmn, especially on way back, but added to the overall test of road, trail, sand and hill. Good support and marshalling all way round. No goody bag, but on reflection, quality of medal, water / biscuits provided and organisation, make it not an issue. Also upgraded to technical t shirt which seems worth the money. In short: Amazing scenery In full: This was my first time at Conwy and I wasn't disappointed. Starting and ending at the castle was lovely. Normally I dislike hills but the scenery around the Great Orme was breathtaking and took my mind off the fact that I was climbing upwards for 2-3 miles. The run back down the other side felt fantastic. It was the sandy pathway that really got me and felt like hard work. The organisation was very good and the chocolate biscuits at the end were very welcome. I really enjoyed this race! Date of review: November 21, 2011

In short: Tough as old boots, but great race In full: Love this race, still my PB course (1.38 from last year) God knows how. Obviously didn't do enough hill work as found it a lot tougher than last year, possibly because it was lovely and warm or the wind had blown up seemingly massive dunes of sand on the footpath on the way back. Great fun though, those last 3 miles seemed to never end. See you next year. Date of review: November 21, 2011
