In short: Just Enjoy the day In full: My 1st GNR and I did not expect a PB - good job it was so crowded you spend alot of time dodging other runners/walkers. The people of Newcastle/Gateshead/South Shields are great offering ice pops drinks and sweets. Happy to have done it, hopefully will start further forward next year and get around faster. Well worth doing for the experience Date of review: September 22, 2010
In short: Just hoping for better weather in '11 In full: My second Great North and if I'm being brutally honest, the atmosphere wasn't quite there from 2009 but that was probably down to the weather more than anything. Good camaraderie between the runners though and the crowds who turned out certainly seemed to enjoy their day as much as the runners. I'll be back to go for a PB again next year... In short: Frustrated by traffic jams in and out of South Shields - could have been better organised. Also frustrated by slower runners starting beyond their capabilities. Great atmosphere and support. Date of review: September 22, 2010
In short: What a wonderful day! In full: Yet again the whole day was simply magnificent. Not even the rain dampened the spirit! The organisation is outstanding and, unlike some races, they have not become complacent.Standards have been set that all big city events should follow (Bristol and Bath spring to mind). I was disappointed with my time, but these things happen! I will be back next year, and the next and the next and.....
In short: a once in a lifetime race 4 everyone - but only once for me thanks In full: glad i did it -everyone needs to do this race once in their lives. but wouldnt do it again - so many people you simply couldnt run Date of review: September 22, 2010
In short: Fantastic event and very adictive In full: My first GNR and first half was an amazing experience. My advice would be do it but make sure you put in the training to get the best out of it, the course is tough in places but the crowds and encouragement from spectators and runners gives you the extra lift needed.
I can understand if better runners get frustrated with the crowds and walkers but take it for what it is and you wont be dissapointed.
Its everything you read about and more, deffinately a must at least once. Date of review: September 22, 2010
