In short: One of the few half marathons which can make you think that "run" rhymes with "fun"!
In full: This is just an excellent race. The course is almost completely flat, and would be a surefire PB race if it wasn't for the fact that it is slightly longer than a true 1/2. The setting is glorious - a large expanse of green surrounded by a canal. The local council have done their best to spoil things by swamping (marshing?) it with football pitches, stinging nettles, sink housing and possibly the world's ugliest factory - what's the matter with these people?! - but on a sunny day it is still beautiful even on the 6th lap! The organisation has a true calypso flavour, upbeat and enthusiastic, and the goodie bag at the end has to be one of the best around - cakes, bagels and fruit. Nice small field means no congestion even on the narrow tracks and everyone is very supportive. Don't usually bother with saturday races but this one is a must.

In short: The marshalls have a running list and call out encouragement every lap. Very warm and friendly with a small field.

In short: Excellent race around Hackney Marshes over 6 lap format offering a flat course with good PB opportunity!
In full: A race catering for all standards of runners, brilliant marshalled (the 6 lap format puts you on first name terms with all the marshalls), 2 water stops per lap (can be v.hot this time of year), over a flat course (grass and park tracks). A field of 120 makes this a very personable and memorable event! Will be back for the 5th time this year!
