In short: This was a well organised and very enjoyable race and the hills were very challenging and tough! i was happy with what i got post race t-shirt,medal,momento,cooked breakfastg Date of review: March 7, 2010
In short: I QUOTE "First half is uphilll and second half is not all uphill" In full: All off trail and as tough as nails, HUGE POTENTIAL FOR INJURIES which I was really trying to avoid especially so close to the LVM - never thought I would say this so soon after - i would do the race again... OH AND THE WIFE CARRYING WAS GREAT TO WATCH!
I did however feel quite lonely doing the run and it was hard to motivate oneself with just the trees and hills staring at you.
The race route was realy well marked and hanging the yellow tape and marking the floors is an excellent idea when there aren't enough marshalls or in extreme off trail conditions - I wish other organisers (like the Tanners) could catch wind of this.
THE MOST GENEROUS RACE - YOU GET WELL STOCKED WATERING POINTS, A T SHIRT WITH YOUR NAME ON IT, YOUR NUMBER HAS YOUR NAME PRINTED ON IT, DELICIOUS BREAKFAST AFTERWARDS, USE OF SWIMMING POOL, SHOWER FACILITIES, A TROPHY ...AND A CARROT -- TASTES GREAT WHEN YOU HUNGRY!
And oh,, the view from Leith Hill Tower is spectacular - I woulkd highly recommend this route - even for walkers.
In short: Woah In full: Tough, but perfect. Yes there are hills, but you do come down them, unfortunately I don't have the same "no fear" of dying, as the winner. Yes it costs a bit but, this is by far the best goody bag I’ve had, London aside (but thats all corporate sponsorship). The carrot made it for me;-). And good to hear the national anthem without some ponced up opera singer drowning out those who want to sing it. Top Top race, Well done to ALL involved Date of review: March 7, 2010
In short: Excellent race. Thoroughly enjoyable! In full: Really enjoyed this race. Scenery, terrain, marshalls, facilities, momentos and crowd support all superb. A few challenging hills, but this is what makes it so rewarding and the views so good! Date of review: March 7, 2010
In short: Hills (both up and down), sunshine, huge variety of paths and terrain, but above all the sort of camaraderie that makes you remember why runners are such great people. Loved it even tho I dropped out due to injury. WILL BE BACK! Date of review: March 7, 2010
In short: DR ROB GETS IT SPOT ON... AGAIN In full: Absolutely awesome run again. Just the right mix of tough and fun. Great mix of people. Everybody really freindly and a big thanks to the marshalls for a smiley face and freindly comment. Great medal and t-shirt and race no with your name on it (nice touch by the way!) and the paper weight.... spectacular! And where else do you get a fry-up afterwards thrown in too?
Trionium races are always the ones to do. I want the full collection of medals from these races. Roll on the PICNIC.
Thanks Rob Great day! Date of review: March 7, 2010
In short: Absolutelt fantastic In full: A great, very well organised event. A big well done and thank you to the organisers and especially to the Marshalls. This was a very enjoyable run. The last mile is a killer. What a hill. Brilliant goody bag. Date of review: March 7, 2010
In short: You are an evil sadistic man Dr. Rob, but I am definitely one of your disciples now ;) I now have a compulsion to enter the Midsummer Monro ! In full: This race is such a fantastic challenge. There is no other race I've entered that requires so much self-discipline on your pace. The reward however, is being able to get up those steps to the bandstand(?) on the way back and still have enough to pick up your pace to your max work rate for a fantastic finish. I'm loving it. In short: Tough but a great day out In full: I really enjoyed that. Well organised, friendly, great scenery, nice t shirt and first time ever that I was given a carrot after a race. I second the request for a stair lift, I could not get up that last hill with the steps. I'll have to come back next year and try again. Date of review: March 7, 2010
