In short: A big city half In full: The starting pen system is great if you are an "elite" athlete (sub 95 minutes - not very elite, really). Great atmosphere at start / finish in square. However, it's best to get the 13 miles in-between over with as quickly as possible! Date of review: May 16, 2007

In short: Great course, shame about the organisation In full: Loved the route - you get the hills out of the way early on. Locals were really encouraging. Bad organisation - nearly missed the start due to crowding in Millennium Square and confusing barriers all over the place. There were no sports drinks at all and by 7 miles no bottled water which really affected the second half of the race - you can't run with cups! I will be back but more water next time please Date of review: May 16, 2007

In short: Worried about the hills, but no problems on the day. In full: Only done one half before,on a flat course and that took me 3hrs 04,so I was concerned aboutthe hills and the cut off time of 3hrs. I finished in 2,48, so I was happy with that, but as soon as the 3hrs was passed , every thing was packed away, the big screen turned off and the atmosphere killed . It's the people at the back who put in some real effort just to finish that really need some support and for them to arrive at the finish line to find everything closed must be very soul destroying, they don't even get a finish time. In short: A fantastic all round event In full: This was my fisrt Leeds half marathon and it won't be the last. Really enjoyed it. Could be a challenge for a first timer as it is a bit up and down in places. Shame about the pavement parts of the course, these were more like an off road event than a road event and narrow in places. All in all a very good event. Date of review: May 15, 2007

In short: They let themselves down this year - no sports drinks at all round the route and no nice treats in the goody bag. Have done so much better in previous years In full: What happend this year? I know I was towards the back, but NOT ONE drinks station had any sports drinks?! And the gody bag contained 1xt-shirt 1xmedal and nowt else. On the plus side though, the people of Leeds gave excellent support as always, all shapes sizes and abilities were cheered on and the route is great fun despite being all roads. I will be back (even if I have to pack my own banana of chocky bar to pop in the goody bag!) Date of review: May 15, 2007
