In short: Hard work but a good run In full: I did the 30k and enjoyed it. It was tough though and at a few stages there were no signs and so i didn't have a clue where to go. Marshalls were nice, jelly babies brilliant! There were no mileage markers though which was disappointing. Good run though and i'm happy i managed to do it! Date of review: August 10, 2008
In short: Lovely, friendly, well-organised - pity that some signage disappeared. In full: Loved this race. It was all so efficient with maps, all the different distances, walkers, runners etc. It was let down by some signage missing at the end in the city, but I spoke to the lovely organiser Ludo who had been out at 4am putting up the signage so it wouldn't be nicked. Not his fault that it was... There weren't many marshalls, but that's the nature of the race. And we were all given maps and asked to carry them with us so that was fine.
I did the 20k which came in at 13.55 miles on my Garmin (which always over measures).
Just had a lovely run on a sunny but not-too-hot day. Chatted to loads of people on the way round who were also having a non-pressurised run and enjoying it.
And my 13 yr old son did the 10k with his Dad - a great way for a youngster to enter a 10k race.

In short: poor signs and a marshall sending people the wrong way In full: did the 20k, signs were brilliant until we split from the 30k race at 15k, then it was hopeless. then when i should have been about half a mile from home i was sent off in the wrong direction by a water station marshall and ended up wandering round the centre of salisbury on my own having no idea how to get back to race hq. not good. it's a shame as the atmosphere at the hq was lovely - i enjoy chilled off road races. and people work very hard to put this event on, but perhaps less races would be sensible. In short: A lot of road for what was a Trail Marathon. In full: Signage good in places - but non-existant/hard to spot/parked cars etc, especially the last few miles when you were tired. Date of review: December 16, 2007
In short: lovely scenery and great variety of views - definitely worth taking the camera next time - the jaffa cakes and jelly babies at the checkpoints were very welcoming and made the nice race if you could call it a race much nicer Date of review: September 25, 2007
In short: A nice, scenic 20k. In full: Enjoyable run with a little too much tarmac. Generally good signage and instructions, and friendly marshals. Not much support through the town though, and the section through the Cathedral could do with direction markers. Overall a low-key, relaxed race. Date of review: August 15, 2007
In short: First 10k - enjoyed it but signs could be better! In full: The first hill had a windy single track at the top and a gate which caused a big hold up and couldn't walk quickly let alone run through! Found this frustrating! Then no problems until the last section when there were no signs to direct you along the boardwalk - I hadn't taken my map either because I was advised was well signposted anyway! Apart from this hiccup I enjoyed the run but was glad the ground was dry! Date of review: August 15, 2007
In short: Nice scenery - obviously not run by or for runners In full: Designed for walkers, not adapted for runners. Not enough signs, (obvious as so many got lost), no distance markers, no distances marked on the map, no start or finish lines (I had to ask if I'd finished!), no marshalls, water stations generally useless, (having to wait for water while helpers chatted to walkers is just rubbish), maybe I was too slow and the helpers had lost interest - wont be doing it again and will not recommended to fellow runners - nice scenery though.
