In short: Very good In full: Organisation was second to none coupled with a loudspeaker announcer that you could actually understand. Loads of water stations and sponges, lots of marshals and helpers that all knew their job. Then a gooody bag with jelly babys, a tee shirt, a medal and a lucozade!! need i go on?!?!?!? In short: Saw a different side of Bracknell today, was that really the place that is home to the world worst shopping precinct and immaculately planned ring road??? Top race, nice to be off the roads and have a few twists and turns... Date of review: April 27, 2008
In short: A good value, very well organised race In full: A very well organised race, with plenty of water staions and enthusiastic volunteers. Facilities at start were good with car parks close to the start and plenty of toilets. Not great scenery, but I wasn't really expecting much. Some interesting inclines around miles 5-7, with short descents. Last couple of miles through woodland were pleasant and I managed to get around before the finish got too slippery. Nice goody bag. Will be back next year. Date of review: April 27, 2008
In short: Excellent management and marshalling - well done and thanks to all the marshalls and volunteers In full: I will be back!
Not the greatest scenery, but better than Reading [if you ignore the stadium]!
Excellent organaisation and marshalling and theh availability of water and sponges was fantastic. Other race organisers please take note!
The denizens of Bracknell deserve a pat on the back for their enthusiastic support, even through the thunderstorm.
Thank you all.
I had an OK race - 1'47". A bit disappointed with the time but the hill from 7 - 9 miles and all the ups and downs make this race feel longer than it is [if that is not too stupid?].
Back on the road after an 18 month lay off and looking to get back to the glory days of sub 1'40". Amsterdam Marathon in October and Ranelagh Half Marathon in Richmond next up. Realistically looking to beat 1'45" at Richmond.
In short: Well Done Bracknell In full: This was my third Bracknell and depressingly my first race in over 70 starts that I failed to finish due to a muscle tear at Mile 10.
Full credit to Bracknell though, the facilities were excellent this year, bag drop was easy, car park easy, started on time and toilets were plentiful. Enthusiastic and encouraging marshalls all the way round and my own kids loved handing out the water near mile 5.
Unfortunately, I had to drop out at 9.5 even though I was on for a PB for this course but wanted to thank the marshalls, who made sure I was looked after and dropped back at South Hill park.
Well done Bracknell you genuinely deserve credit this year, keep the standards high! Date of review: April 27, 2008
In short: Perfect for first race In full: Very good organization, excellent atmosphere and a nice route make this a very pleasant race. A few smooth hills make it more interesting. Date of review: April 27, 2008
In short: Very well organised, good course, not too hilly, nice medal. In full: This was my 2nd Bracknell Half and whilst not as quick as last year (got a big soggy and bogged down at the end!) it has produced my fastest and 3rd fastest times at this distance. Excellent organisation again this year. The thunderstorm was a little unexpected but did provide a cooling effect! Another very nice medal. I will be back for the 25th running next year. Thanks to everyone involved in the organisation. Date of review: April 27, 2008
In short: Well organised and friendly race. In full: Nice to see the organisers have taken note of the comments on last years race; There were amply toilets at the start for once. The atmosphere is great - especially for the first half of the race, which is a mostly a winding path through residential areas with good support. From 6-9 miles the hill is tiring, but the rain came to cool everyone. There seems to be a lot of non-club runner which adds to the beginner friendlyness. Major bonus is the car park 1 min from the start line. Great race. I'll be back next year, remembering to sign up early as it has filled up quicker and quicker each year.
