In short: 13 miles plus 20m swim
In full: Great race, spent most of my time dodging the mud and puddles, only to find we had to swim through the flooded underpass - at least it was at the end.

Like the fact that the mile markers counted down to the end - good psychology!

Need to make the end a bit slicker though - queuing for a medal/Tshirt is not what you want after running so long.

In short: The Cross-Country season has started early!!
In full: This event seems to go from strength to strength covering marathon/marathon relay (4 stages)/half marathon disciplines over a point-to-point course.

Idyllic but challenging course over mainly offroad terrain although the heavy rain made it v.muddy and slippery esp on the chalk.

Good pre/post race facilities at the leisure centre, and efficient transportation by bus to Winchester for the start.
Numerous marshals, clear signage and no chance of getting lost;
Great support from marshals, locals,walkers, tourists and other runners;

The word of mouth resulting in a record field does the event justice, but care needs to be taken to avoid being a victim of it's own success - lots of queueing for t-shirts/medals post-race, although I'm not sure why these can't be given out as runners finish. Receiving a medal this year for the marathon cheered me after not being offered last year. Also, where was the first drink station? signposted but not there! No water until 7 or 8 miles caused concern but availability improved as the race progressed.
I was shocked at having to run through the flooded subway near the end but quite enjoyed it despite the smell!

Thanks to Paul and all the people who gave up their Sunday for the benefit of us runners! Well Done!

In short: Fantastic race! Definately be doing it again.
In full: Great race, lovely scenery, a bit challenging at times (due to hills and terrain) but great fun. Organisation was a bit confusing at the end as it wasn't clear where to get t shirts/medals from and I nearly went home without mine, but otherwise great! Will def be back next year.

In short: Great run, cute baby piglets distracted me from the pain of the last steep hill !
In full: Did relay last year & decided then I'd do the Half next time. Was a bit worried about the weather but apart from getting blown away & hailed on while on the top stretch it was fine - good rainbow though. Marshalls were great, organisation better than last year as new finish venue coped well BUT that meant running through that F****** underpass ! Some may have thought it was a shoe wash :-) but I'm not very tall, so it was more of a thigh wash ! Obviously the organisers can't be held responsible for it & it'll make a great talking point at work in the morning !

Put this on your list of must-do's !

In short: Muddy,wet and windy and I still enjoyed it!
In full: I`ve only been running for six months and in that time it`s always been dry underfoot. Is a cross country half marathon always that hard? Several people had bad falls around me and I think my time of just over a couple of hours would have been fifteen minutes quicker on roads. However it was a memorable race with great scenery,organisation and a feeling of achievement at the end.

In short: Muddy! Well organised and very encouraging marshalls.
In full: Tough terrain. Very wet and windy conditions in 2006, particularly on exposed areas. Probably best to have trail shoes in retrospect. Excellent marshalling and plenty of drink stations, although if you want lucozade/jelly babies etc then carry them with you! Less scenic for the last 2 miles or so, but very satisfying to finish.
