In short: 3 laps, 3 times the fun... In full: This was my first marathon and i thought the laps were great - you knew what was coming. Special thanks to the woman who set up an impromtu drinks station on the last lap. I was disappointed with my time but I enjoyed the whole thing. Date of review: December 6, 2005

In short: Great Race - Great Day! In full: The brillaint organisation of this race definitely means that I'll consider running it again. It put some large city races to shame!!!
The course was tough but not ridiculously so... And the scenery was much better than I'd expected.
Would rather have had bottles of water than cups as I struggled to take in enough liquid... But I'm sure that is an easier change to say than to make! Date of review: December 6, 2005

In short: Tough Marathon as the undulations seem more like hills on last lap ! However outstanding organisation and big field of 600 Runners. Also the Relay offers another perspective on the race In full: One of the best organised races in a mix of town and country. Three laps is not to everyone's taste and it can be quite a tough run with some longish inclines. Water and Isotonic stations and plenty of parking plus close to train station.
The three laps offers a relay option for a team of three and this also means more company on the road for the marathoners although need to show discipline on your pacing and not chase somebody only doing 8.73 miles ! However all relay runners are clearly identified to avoid confusion. Date of review: December 6, 2005

In short: my first marathon ever, and the best experience to go on running In full: Challenging as it was quite hilly, you need to pace yourself from the start as i started very dynamically and the third lap was very painful to me. Date of review: December 6, 2005

In short: Very well organised, as long as you like laps In full: Hardest marathon i've done, but managed a PB (glad I did some hill work in my training). Excelent organisation and teeshirt is a good design. Thanks to all the organisers. Like the ability to have water or energy drink at each drink station. Doing laps is hard when the route undulates so much.

In short: Good race - better scenery than I expected for Luton. Tough hills. In full: I enjoyed it - a PB but I think I could have gone faster on a flatter course. Relay runners add a lot to the atmosphere too.
Organisation on the whole not too bad but badly let down by the water stations on the last lap. its the last thing you need in a marathon to have to do the last 9 miles with no water. worst thing was the last water station where you could see the water in the drum but the marshalls had clearly got bored and cleared off. if you say 5hr cut off then the marshalls should be there for 5 hours (i finished in 4.34 so they weren't even close) Date of review: December 5, 2005

In short: Well organised & friendly race.... but location leaves a little to be desired In full: Good organisation, friendly competitors & marshalls. Isotonic drinks at stops a definite plus. The course was half in luton .. which was not very nice, and half in the lanes just outside .. which was quite pleasant. Course undulating rather than hilly - nothing too drastic, All in all a good functional marathon and I had a great time - but the location and fact that is has 3 laps means its not necessarily to everyone's taste. In short: The rural parts are very pleasant. Although undulant the course was relatively straightforward. Date of review: December 5, 2005
