In short: Excellent first running - will do it again - thanks for organising In full: Really enjoyable, but very muddy in parts - added to the fun but not to the chance of a good time - I think, if it's dry, this could be a fast race. Friendly marshalls, nice route, definite one to do again. Date of review: February 21, 2010
In short: First 8 miles a joy - then the mud kicked in but still a great race although appeared a bit short In full: Plus points - First 8 miles fantastic, even with a bit of head wind and rain. Loved the jelly beans/baby's on route at various points. Very friendly atmosphere.
Minus points - Distance appeared to be approx 0.2 miles short. Route map showed a slightly different route on the way back at Southsea Castle, (approx mile 5) looked like we cut the corner off. From then on the mile markers were out of sync. This took the edge off an otherwise great day (unless it was my Garmin that threw a wobbly for the very first time?) I ran past the finish line to make up the shortfall and still got a PB so VERY happy. Will be back next year. Date of review: February 21, 2010
In short: fast, flat course with some tricky boggy/ wet sections! In full: This was a nice run and organisation was good. Friendly marshals and a good supportive crowd. Could have done with the first drink station being a little later or having an extra one in the middle as there was quite a gap between them. A few more toilets would have been nice but i have seen longer queues in other races! Date of review: February 21, 2010
In short: muddy, but fun In full: I really enjoyed this run, wish i had worn trial shoes though!! even the rain held off for most of it. Great goody bag and this is the friendliest race that i have done. A plus for me was the toilets, as i need to go when i run!Marshalling was spot on, in fact it is difficult to find fault with any of it!!! well done to all, organizers, helpers and runners. In short: A great challenge. Very friendly supportive marshals with jelly babies! In full: This was the first organised half marathon i have attempted. All in all it was a good experience! Very muddy after mile 8, i didnt think the mud and puddles were ever going to end! I enjoyed the scenery though, more so as i havent seen Portsmouth past Gunwharf Quays! It would have been good to have a few more toilets at the start. I arrived 30 mins before the start but was late starting the race as the loo queue was huge. Date of review: February 21, 2010
