In short: Excellent race though very tough. Would love to do it again but unfortunately can't make it in 2005. No mile markers for first 10 miles, then mile markers all over the place!! Date of review: March 8, 2005

In short: A true cross-country run In full: This is a cracker of a run. Well organised, good running potential, a slightly sereal feeling as you join the half-marathon crowd. The second half is hillier, the running surface quite firm underfoot and slippery in places, especially when wet! The marshals were stars and the finish down the hill thrilling. Not so sure on the distance accuracy as I managed to equal my road race average. That aside just run this race and enjoy it for what it is, a classic. Date of review: February 18, 2005

In short: Marvellous race yet again In full: Did the half last year, full this. Once again, brilliant! Really friendly atmosphere, seems to keep running bores obsessed only with PBs etc away - everyone seemed to be there for the vibes! If you're a beginner, forget any "oh it's too hard/hilly/muddy etc for you"! As long as you're sensible the beautiful scenery and real sense of achievement of running from Winchester to Salisbury will see you through. I agree it is bound to get more popular and I actually think a reasonable limit might be a good idea - as long as us regulars are given priority, of course! Up till now my favourite ever race was the lap-of-Windermere Marathon way back in '85 - do you know, I think Clarendon Way beats that! Fabulous - now I'm going to look at some of the LDWA events as after this, a tarmac marathon (and I've done plenty) will never appeal again. Date of review: October 11, 2004

In short: This will be very popular very soon its such a great race and very friendly In full: This will be very popular very soon its such a great race and very friendly. Recomend doing this one next year as it won't be long before everyone gets wind of this and the organisers will have to put an entry limit on. Excellent race. Date of review: October 11, 2004

In short: I loved it. In full: What more could you want from a half marathon? beautiful scenery, mud, slippery slopes, pretty villages, good support, brilliant organisation and a nice friendly atmosphere. I thought the New Forest half was lot harder (and more boring) then this one. Sure , I was 10 minutes later, but enjoyed it a lot more! Might be tempted to do the full one next year but it will require a bit more training..

In short: Well organised hilly cross-country marathon with good views (weather permitting) In full: Shouldnt be considered pb material so how I got within 3 seconds of mine when all my previous 6 marathons have been on flat roads I have no idea. Perhaps I like mud more than I thought I did.
Having the relay marathon and the half marathon runners on the same course makes it fun, and less lonely if you are near the front.

In short: Very challenging cross country course, certianly not PB unless it was your 1st marathon In full: I done the full marathon, and this was the 3rd time since it has been operating, the weather was against me, and it was a hard slog, compared to the 2 "dry" years i had had before. Got soaked, muddy and very tired, but loved every minute of it. It feels like you had achieved by the end. Marshalling and signposting have come on fantastically since the 1st event 7 years ago, and i would certainly put it on my list to do for a 4th time next year Date of review: October 6, 2004
