In short: First half Marathon - Really enjoyed it
In full: I only started running because of this race - but due to this I'm hooked and have already completed 5 mile & 10k races as part of training. It gave me a boost to try something new and raise money for a good cause. Start was a bit hectic but there were a lot of us! on to the next challenge....hmmmm 26miles eh....london.......

In short: Great atmosphere but impossible to run quick,
In full: I have never seen so many people in one place all going to do the same thing. 20 minutes to get through the start line and the crowd never thinned. Gave up trying to 'do a time' as couln't battle through the crowd.

Summary: Excellent event for charity and atmosphere.

Shame it took until 18:00 to get back to Ashington.

In short: Great race which unfortunately is becoming quite expensive and time consuming for those from the South.
In full: Such a buzz, forgot how much it hurts, but enjoyed it none the less. Only downside, the nightmare of getting out of South Sheilds.

In short: Great race, great place, good fun!
In full: Really, really enjoyed myself at this, my first half marathon- charity bond wasn't too crippling either (1.4k for London Marathon? stroll on...). But again, still bothered by the slower runners/ walkers positioning themselves at clearly marked points for 6, 7 and 8 min mile points. I understand that events such as the GNR are a great introduction to running and for raising money for good causes, but c'mon- if you know you're not going to be running that fast, why position yourself so far front only to be jostled and run past by half the pack? Apart from that whinge, I thoroughly enjoyed myself all round- even though a Blue Peter presenter beat me (just)!

In short: Great atmosphere and support. However lots of walkers even after the first 3 miles meant that I spent a lot of time dodgy people which slowed me quite alot
