In short: Have a go
In full: Overall we really enjoyed our first GNR. However it took us 17 mins to get to the start line! The race was made difficult by the number of people walking the course. They could do with holding The BUPA GNR 13 mile walk. We weaved, skipped jumped our way to the finish. Thanks to the Red Arrows for their fantastic display it made the last leg home very memorable.Well done to my sister in law Sue for sticking with the training and completing her first 1/2 Marathon

In short: See longer review
In full: Good event, predominantly well organised, although some areas very disappointing. Baggage buses not at all secure. Very slow start (16 mins to cross line). Dedicated walkers in front for first 7 miles, and absolutely HORRENDOUS experience getting away from finish - took an-hour-and-a-half to get on to the Metro at South Shields - massive queues at finish for buses(no signs)& even bigger queues at Metro station. Otherwise very good event.

In short: I got stiff going home!
In full: I haven't run a half marathon since the bath one two years ago and the atmosphere at this one was amazing... I think the issues with people walking was that charities may have gotten a lot of the orange numbers and sent them out to people like me who were just happy to finish the day we started (ideally ahead of the race vehicle) and instead of being good like me (realising sub 1.40 was not possible going to the allocated time slot) just went in with the orange numbers? Don't know but it certainly shouldn't detract from a fabulous day - still crying with pain after the six hour drive home in awful traffic... perhaps lane principles refreshers are needed on the M1 too???

In short: Fantastic Event
In full: A memorable occasion, well worth the trip. Need to do something about the start, few people seemed to take note of the predicated time signs. Great weekend though!!

In short: A carnival procession with a few lucky runners at the very start
In full: Worthwhile fun event, certainly not worthwhile if you live 6hours away in the south and want to run a pb, or indeed remotely fast...

In short: Good fun day out, but if they can persuade slower people to start from further back it will greatly improve it
