In short: My first ever 10-mile race!! The marshalls were really good, plenty of signs telling people where to be which was really good too. The only downside was the weather - it was bitterly cold - but great fun. Looking forward to next year. Date of review: February 21, 2005
In short: Well organised race, quick flat course, and supportive marshalling despite the cold weather. In full: Good FLM training. The course was a bit mundane being very flat and unspectacular. Also, to receive just a pen for completing the 20miles didn't seem worth the effort. For a higher entry fee, the t-shirts (that were on sale) or even a medal would have meant alot more. Even so, a good race, and hope to be back next year. Date of review: February 21, 2005
In short: Excellent organisation and marshalling especially as it was so very cold! In full: Brilliant race will do this again as it is so well organised, no delays, good commentary, good information excellent massage service too! Well done RRR Date of review: February 21, 2005
In short: Well organised, calm but friendly atmosphere. Quiet roads and lots of runners! In full: This was my 4th time at this race and achieved a pb (personal time just under 2.55). Reading Roadrunners have succeeded in providing an excellent course along quiet lanes - except for one "main road" (my definition of main road living in london is different!!). The start is a little bit congested but within 1/4 mile no problem. easy going informative pre-race commentary, reasonably quick toilet queues, plenty of warm changing space on a cold day. Well managed car parks add to the easiness of the day. Water stations no more than 3 miles apart and energy drinks 3 times on the course. Relaxed but friendly finish area and then well organised baggage storage.
The piece de resistance is the tea stall with REAL homemade cakes and sandwiches afterwards for very reasonable prices.
Goody bag reasonable, the 'gift' is different every year and usually novel (eg shoe bag, pen etc)
If you want a long distance race or a long training run, try this race Date of review: February 21, 2005
In short: Excellent Event In full: Very well organised. Use of the primary school for changing etc very handy as everything in one place. Plenty of loos. Marshalls very encouraging even though they must have been frozen (especially on the 2nd lap). Pretty course too. Date of review: February 21, 2005
