In short: Good race to start the year. In full: Enjoyed the mix of road and off-road. Hills weren't as bad as expected. However, there was little respite, always hgoing either up or down. Well organised race Date of review: January 8, 2006
In short: The hills were hard so soon after the Christmas excesses, but the race was well organised and everyone was very friendly and supportive, great start to the year! Date of review: January 8, 2006
In short: I had reservations at the start having heard about the hills - but really enjoyed it. In full: I took advice and started easily, picking it up in the second half and really enjoyed it for that reason (even the last mile, despite my lungs wanting to burst was a very quick time for me). Good start to my London training and looking forward to running it next year. Well done to the marashal at about 9 1/2 who asked for a smile. Date of review: January 8, 2006
In short: This was my 23rd race at 10 miles and first time out of Sussex for this distance. The hills? were surprisingly soft!. In full: Was expecting sterner climbs such as in Lewes 10, Cuckmere 10, Mince Pie or Southdowns 10. Still, more than enough for a first race of the year. Nice touch - the hand towel. Pleasant change from a medal. Date of review: January 8, 2006
In short: There's nothing like it for starting the year. In full: Thanks to all the marshalls - friendly, supportive and helpful.
As has been mentioned several times, two testing uphill slogs on each lap, and I have to admit, the last one got me. However, thanks to the guy who forced me to run up the hill at mile 6, the last mile was the only part of a challenging course that beat me. Oh, so did the time.
Towel was a nice touch.
This was one race where I stood at the start and felt like I'd rather be at home in front of the fire, but, having completed the race, I felt more justified sitting watching football. Date of review: January 8, 2006
