In short: Beautiful scenary and friendly runners - who could ask for more? In full: First time I've come by car, and I think I'll go back to the train next year as 2500 cars and one gate is always going to be a problem! Apart from that minor niggle, the race itself is excellant, well marshalled (thanks all!) and through some of the best scenary of any 1/2M. Well done the organisers (again!) In short: I thought the some of the hills were tough until I tried to get out the car park,,! In full: 3 months out through injury didn't help but next year, fingers crossed, I'll get some training in.. Thanks to all those involved!! Date of review: September 25, 2005
In short: Very hot and hilly In full: Don't know if I'd do this again, it's a tough course and the late start time made running in the heat of the day a bit too much for me Date of review: September 25, 2005
In short: Fantastic friendly race with a great mixture of people but too many hills! In full: Loved the race but found it quite hard - made easier by the great people who were running towards the back with me. Definately recommend - fab marshalls and drink stations - even handing out jelly beans in the last 3 miles Date of review: September 25, 2005
In short: Pleasurable pain! Unexpectedly fine weather helped. Thoroughly enjoyed! In full: Cracking day. Good weather. Knocked 17mins of last year's time! :) Very scenic course. Seemingly well organised. Couple of small niggles; I would like to slap the idiot in the BMW trying to carve his way through the runners from behind up a hill at about 11 miles (- don't think it was one of the Royals ;)). He nearly got a dousing from my water bottle! Only other bugbear was (yet again) the number of very very slooowwwwww runners who somehow seemed to think they could run 1:30's or better - at least based on where they lined up at the start from!!! In short: First ever 1/2 - Windsor had evrything I needed (incl hills!) In full: It was my first ever 1/2 marathon after starting running only 6 months ago. I know the course well as I live in the area so I'm not 'amazed' by the scenery that the park offers, but even so - it is stunning.
It was a good course, challenging in the right places and with well organised waterstops and sponges. Ev en the finish line seemed to work well - as I was expecting apile up!
Highly recommended - will be there next year.. Date of review: September 25, 2005
In short: Fantastic ! Great course, scenery, crowd and run organisation... In full: Really great course - my first half, and not quite as bad as i was expecting with all the "undulating" and "challenging" things i'd read. One or two "challenging" little hills in on the second lap, which were entertaining. Very well organised race, but car parking on departure was abysmal bordering on farcical - i saw one column of about 30 cars head off across the park away from the exit, only to reappear 5 minutes later :-) Still it made for pleasant 45 minutes sitting in the sunshine!
