In short: Tougher than it looks on the map. Entry limit about right. Water before start would be good.

In short: Scenic undulating off road half
In full: Really enjoyed this race. More undulating than I expected but great scenery, totally off road, well organised, good crowds, something for the kids to do - all in all a pretty good race. Traffic was a bit of a mare on the way in.

In short: Fantastic first half in glorious scenery - need more toilets!
In full: This was my first half marathon and in do to it again this year. Nice big field to get lost in for first timers, wonderfully supportive crowd and marshalls all the way round.

Quite hilly but they are running it the other way around this year which might make it more bearable - recommended!

In short: Why the hell did I bother?
In full: I ran this in 2003 as a jolly but 2004 was as a pre-mara training run. God knows why I went back. Poor access, over expensive and poor organisation at the start meant for the second time I had to jump over barriers to get some clear grass.

Fortunately it clashes with berlin this year so no chance of a repeat.

In short: Friendly and very well organised.
In full: Very warm and could possibly do with earlier start-time, whilst it was a bit narrow for the first half mile. Thought I'd better put a couple of minor gripes in up front to prove that I'm not on RunWindsor's payroll, because overall this is one of the best races I've run. The organisation worked pretty much like clockwork from my experience, particularly with the army cadets manning the water and sponge stations! Good course - even though you run some bits of it twice, it doesn't get monotonous. Unfortunately I can't make the 2005 date, but I definitely plan to do it again some time in the future.

In short: It was very very hot!!!!!!!
In full: This race is ran at 1pm, so you are running at one of the hottest parts of the day, and in late September it can still very hot. This was my first ever race and I got caught up in the occasion rather than running my own race and as a result I found it exceptionally tough!

In short: Beware the hill at 10 miles
In full: Great atmosphere in a very scenic setting. My first half and an all round good experience. Very well marshalled. The water from the sponges did taste a bit funny though. I think they had previously been used to wash down the army vehicles !!!

In short: Enjoyable run
In full: My first half marathon - the course is quite undulating which I wasn't well prepared for. Atmosphere and crowd fantastic. Last mile was fantastic - long and straight downhill towards the castle with an enthusatic crowd cheering you on!

In short: Fantastic crowds and great scenery
In full: Very well marshalled with excellent regular drink and sponge stops - even had markers telling you that they were coming up so you didn't miss them. This was my first half and it was good enough to make me go on and (so far) do two more halves and a full marathon.
