In full: As everyone knows, this is a very special race. The main problem I had with it is that they were too eager to close the pens, even with people still queing to get in. A bit more common sense was needed by some. Appart from that, I don't think I can fault the organisers.
A special note to the people of the North East. You should be very proud of yourselves. The atmosphere is second to none, the support fantastic, and the way you help the runners with drinks, oranges, jelly babies and general all round support is a credit to you. Thank you very much. In short: Not what I had expected In full: The start was manic first mile and a half was full off 'runneers' who were maybe a bit optomistic about their times. Made is quite uncomfortable. Think that its to big and local support does thin out. I have done it and tahts it lots of other runs to do before I return. Date of review: September 30, 2009
In short: well done to Big Bren & the team In full: Please can you do something special for those 119 brave souls for have completed all GNRs. Free entry for life would be nice, or automatic entry would be better. Also, please consider reducing the entry fee. The Fitness Show could do with a re-vamp, its nothing more than a showcase for golf, rowing & cricket, little emphasis on running & there ought to more stalls for running related stuff Date of review: September 30, 2009
In short: excellent support/atmosphere/organisation; so so scenery & PB potential In full: The Good: atmosphere, organization, local support, maps!; The Bad: scenery (noone's fault), PB potential (crowded all the way), heat (this year); The Ugly: Fitness Show (adverts sell it as a big event - little more than a pasta queue, with more emphasis on cricket & rowing than running).
