In short: was my first race, with quite a mix of up and down hills to keep things interesting but more down hills than up. very well organised, scenic race. it is possibe for a first timer although I think it attracts a amount of speedy cluby type runners.
In full: so pleased I did this race. I highly recommend it.

In short: first marathon think I'm hooked
In full: excellent race, the organisation and friendly atmosphere made sure that nothing, not even that waterfall from the heavens could dampen the enthusiasm of most people participating. Definately will be back next year.

In short: I tamed the Loch Ness Monster!!!
In full: ... at least that's how I felt at the end. Truly magnificent. First marathon, amazing experience. I should add that my wife and daughter were marshalls in the Queens Park stadium and had a fantastic day as well, despite being soaked to the skin. My favourite story from my wife is about the 10K runner to whom she said: "You're doing really well, you're nearly there." The exhausted runner replied: "Well you f****ing well finish the race for me then." You can't pay money for lines like that! See you all for the 2007 marathon.

In short: Rough run - steep ups and downs for the first 10miles, then calmer and from 17 up the hill until about 20. And it ain't downhill from there even though many claim so!!
In full: I've got to admit that despite my negative picture of the race, I took away 14mins from my first marathon -so it wasn't all bad!

But. The start with inadequate number of portaloos (I barely made it in time!), the chap with the microphone never referring to the pace flags (I passed people all the way til 14miles), the hills in the starting ten miles (I had problems with my knees, sth I don't experience often), the last miles in Inverness where there was not much guidance to the finish, and the miserable pools that the torrential rain formed (this can be unrealistic to suggest, but isn't there any way to make sure runners don't need to run Through cold deep pools of water..?).

Ok, there were positive aspects too. The weather was not too hot (I was so cold during the last 5miles!). The scenery was gorgeous (I can tell only because I've seen it on a clear day -now there wasn't much else than fog to be seen). And the few people cheering us runners on the way made it feel special (due to rain -there definitely wasn't too many).

My view is not fair in terms of the rain, what can you do about it? But anyway, the course wasn't too good either.

Hope it'll be better next year.

In short: Wet, hilly, challenging, heroic marshalls!
In full: My first ever marathon, and how wise I was to pick this one. Beautiful wild scenery, extreme weather, wonderful (if sparse in places) support, heroic marshalls. Could have done with more portaloos at the start and/or more coaches with toilets on them. Otherwise what a wonderfully organised race this is. Can't wait for next year.

In short: Wet and tough but enjoyable.
In full: This race is worth it just to get away from the city and up to the Highlands for the weekend.

In short: Friendly atmosphere, well organised, a great event.
In full: Despite the torrential rain and the climb at about 18 miles I managed a PB. A very friendly atmosphere created by fellow competitors and the brave souls who were supporting the race.
The soup and baked potato at the end of the race were most welcome. Thank you to all the organisers and sponsers for making this a great event. I will be back.
