In short: Absolutely marvellous fun
In full: This was all I could ever want in a run: small and well organsed with stunning scenery, friendly and encouraging marshalls and lots of mud. I finished with a big grin on my face and am already looking forward to doing it next year.

In short: Sometimes I spent more time going sideways in the mud than forwards....
In full: Wasn't sure if I should due to a knee injury but glad I did. Very much fun was had, tarmac, track, and mud on gently rolling land. Views to Silbury Hill, the Ridgeway and various Barrows. Very friendly and encouraging marshalls and fellow competitors. My last race of the year and good to go out with a big smile on my face.

In short: It's what sunday's are all about.
In full: everything great again, even the weather.
My 3rd time and one of my favorite races, organisation great, marshalls excellent, pretty tough course and lovely village.
I always try and run through every puddle but there were too many this year, loved it.
Thanks.

In short: My first race and loved it, at the back the whole way but didn't care the marshals encouraged me the whole way and I finished in a good time for me. Thanks again

In short: Not quite as muddy as I was hoping for, but a very enjoyable event
In full: My first time at this event and certainly not my last!

Not as muddy or hilly as I was expecting or hoping(I like my off-road races to be a challenge!) but still quite a demanding course.

Well organised and lots of friendly and encouraging marshals which made the event even more enjoyable.

Good value, and a nice t-shirt but I was surprised they advertised the t-shirts as being generous in their size - I asked for a medium expecting it to be more like a large but it was a bit too tight. Fortunately there was someone willing to swap, even if he may have felt awkward spotting the fat man in a too tight t-shirt!

In short: A good race in the Wiltshire countryside
In full: Having been at quite a few MT events over the last few weeks (Sodbury Slog, Stickler etc) I've got used to lots of tough races, so today's was a bit of a shock. There were some nice muddy sections (fields and nasty rutted tracks) and I gather that the section at 3 miles is usually much worse than this year (described a looking like a drained canal...). However much of the running was over tarmac (or equivalent) tracks, and so this race is a bit of a hybrid. Its certainly not a Slog or Terminator with 90% off road, and I suffered a bit in my Innovate Flyrocks, and maybe next time trail shoes would be the best bet.
The route is essentially flat, with a slow climb at the start to the earthworks, which then rewards the runner by giving a downhill last mile. For the rest the biggest handicap is the rough and muddy sections, other than that this is a fast race (or certainly was this year).
The race was well organised and the marshals unfailingly supportive, so well do for that. The sweeper's broom was nice touch.
I do have a serious gripe though. I requested a XL T-shirt, as I have a fairly big chest size 44-46 inches - I'm not a whippet but I do love my running). I overheard some of the organizers discussing the T-shirts beforehand and saying that they hadn't ordered XL as they were far too big. As I expected the L size was too small, and my 'much sought after Avebury 8 T-shirt' will have to be passed on to my wife. Please, please organizers consider that not all runners are tiny!
On the whole a nice sunday morning run, but for me too much road and not enough hill to be a personal favourite.
