In short: Superb, Fun and Enjoyable
In full: Clubby atmosphere with LOTS of AC runners in this event which leaves very few vacancies for outside runners to come along. However, I did not feel like an outsider and was given respect all along the route.

Very long walk downhill to the start line which was very cramped (hense only 400). Not only did that mean a big hill right at the beginning, but the family had a hell of a walk back after the start :)

BOGGY ? I have never seem boggy like this before. The last 4 miles were boggy HELL, but it took your mind of the huge last hill. - great fun :)

One big draw back in my opinion is the lack of medal and t-shirt. Because after running a gruelling 13 miles in multi terrain, I would at least expect a medal or t-shirt.
Ended up with a grotty old mug worth 40p and a mini chocolate bar. It was not even a full size bar. I like to get my hands on tangible momentos - and for that reason only, I will not be entering next year. (I don't think - watch this space).

In short: Nice change form tarmac halfs.
In full: Enjoyable for the variety, but little tst who is patrols Saltaire suggests better marshalling as you come of the canal, tourists are not that considerate, and there were no warning signs for the stupid.
I can't say there was a good part of the course, I enjoyed it all. The start, Esholt (what a big sewage works), the canal, the hill, the boggy top and the final hill to the finish, all have things to recommend and remember it.

In short: Challenging, changes of terrain keep it interesting, great race.
In full: Some bits you may as well walk as it's just as quick as running - steep muddy hillsides, the canal towpath is nice and flat for a fast mid-section, swear I went up to my knee in one bog hole en-route to Harvey's gallops - all in all GREAT FUN !!

In short: A well organised race.
In full: Only one niggle was the placement of the first water stop. Had to drink quickly then duck for the barrier. Everything else including the weather went really well.

In short: back to nature
In full: A great race, if somewhat challenging. We had heard it was so good we entered as walkers (and sort of ran - as did others) as the race was full months ago, and we weren't disappointed.

In short: This year's Battle of the Somme-like conditions underfoot made the race more of a challenge than ever, but added to the atmosphere among competitors (and the aches the day after). One year we'll get to do it in snow!

In short: Muddy
In full: Multi-terrain half with a lot of mud at the start and also in the last 2miles. Hills after 2miles and then again at 8-9miles, but lovely flat section in the middle.
