In short: Another superb race - loved it - ticked off this one and Munro - looking forward to Leith next In full: Well organised, great marshalling and support , fab medals and t shirts and loads of lovely mud - well done - will be back :-) Date of review: November 23, 2014
In short: Great atmosphere with a stunning but challenging course. Fantastic every year! In full: Love this race. It's dirty and hilly but the views and the atmosphere make it all worth while. The marshals and the Fool do a wonderful job. All this and at the end of the day it's a charity fund raiser. Date of review: November 23, 2014
In short: Hills & Mud have rarely been so much fun In full: Absolutely loved this race, stunning backdrop, well organised, super friendly atmosphere, great t-shirt & Medal, free coffee before and after, beer upon finishing. Really loved this race, really hard race but I'll definitely be back for more. Date of review: November 23, 2014
In short: No amount of training will prepare you for this, you will never forget this one! In full: I am sitting here typing having finished the run at 1pm, however I don't really feel like moving! My legs are toast, however this is an incredible race with fantastic organisation, amazing views and is very supportive, with superb facilities is it hard? You find out! In short: Ohhhh that's why they call it HILLY !!!! In full: Brilliant race with fantastic organisation from beginning to end. Marshall's friendly, runners friendly. Very, Very tough but absolutely loved it. Date of review: November 23, 2014
In short: Liked it....very satisfying In full: Hilly - well described as such. However the inclines are just (for me anyway) runnable ....very slowly, this made for an extremely satisfying run; it is soul-destroying to trudge up hill after hill in some events.
Lots of free parking. Loads of toilets. Changing facilities. Showers (very necessary....more mud than a mud factory) a queue, but only a short wait. Free tea, coffee and biscuits - before and after. Friendly marshals, well marked course and the reassuring presence of qualified first-aid folk. Location great - changing in jockeys' room, running alongside course. Couple of nice quirks - singing national-anthem at start, bottle of beer and carrot ( with nice chewy/nutty bar thing, nice tec -tee and fine medal).
In short: Hard work, but worth it In full: My god when they say hilly half, they aint kidding. It's a killer!! But really good fun, with a beer at the end for your troubles. There are some flat and downhill bits, but as you run down you get the realisation that you're gonna have to go back again as the front runners come boming past you in the opposite direction!! Well worth the money, I said never again afterwards, but am already poised to put my application in for this year! Date of review: February 26, 2014
