In short: Hilly!
In full: It was as described...a hilly half marathon with your PW (personal worst) on the cards! Great atmosphere and the marshals were all very encouraging which always helps!

Overall, a great race but collecting race numbers was a little chaotic at the start. No biggie though :)

In short: Blimey, all gaskets blown on my old engine.
In full: More training, more hill work. And then it will only hurt a little. Great local run for me and probably a regular on my calendar. Well done the MARSHALS!

In short: Lovely hilly race with lots of mud and thigh-high puddles
In full: A lovely race ! A tiny bit too much as a first-timer - thanks a lot Chris and the others for waiting for me to finish the sweep ! Great scenery, great, friendly marshaling, great mud, great sheep, great hills (bit steepish maybe - could hardly even walk up anymore at one point during the second lap), great goat, great views, and great weather to boot. Very happy I did that one after all, will definitely be back next year with a few more training sessions under my belt. Bit gutted about the lack of carrots and Morris dancing - hopefully they'll be back next year !

In short: A steepy hilly, slippy slidey mudfest of an event.
In full: With the aches and strains subsiding the day after the race I can look back fondly at the mudfest that was the Bath Hilly Half 2012. 'Cosily' organised with plentiful water and sweetie stops. As previously mentioned, it's hilly and muddy - yesterday was very muddy. Bridleways were streams, flat bits were bogs, all great fun but trail shoes are a must.

I'm proud to say it was a Southville runner who cheered everyone on in the jester suit and another Southville runner, a first time half marathoner, who swept up the race. She happily admits she almost bit more off than she could chew as a first timer....but she still finished, brilliant! Perhaps warm up with a Bristol, Stroud or Salisbury half first before attempting this one.

The only disappointment was the lack of the promised carrot at the end of the race - the T shirt and the medal were good though.

In short: Mud Flume Delight
In full: One of the hardest races I've ever done, easily compares with some of the coastal trail races. Organisation was superb, apart from the 'accidental' mixed changing rooms at the beginning! The marshals were so friendly (aren't they always? What a rare breed), and really encouraging. The course was unrelenting, incredibly muddy, lung-bustingly hilly in places, and a load of fun to run. There was mud. And mud. And then more mud. Bottle of Stella at the end, nice medal, decent tee shirt. Oh, one nice touch was runner name on the race number so marshals could shout your name encouragingly. And hot showers at the end! Really couldn't fault this race. But .... don't attempt it as your first. Brilliant. Hopefully it'll be even muddier next year!
