In short: Excellent support from the numerous marshals lovely runs downhill! In full: Well organised, excellent marshalling. Walk to and from start no more than half a mile. Race HQ had cafe and showers. Lots of downhills but to earn those you have long drags uphill so it is a good training run, but don't look for a PB. For a change ALL drivers, of tractors, as well as cars, were considerate and courteous. Date of review: May 14, 2012
In short: Very scenic route, made better by the lovely sunny day. HQ is a 10 minute walk but I liked this as it made for a warm up/cool down. Good facilities, two mugs and therefore two chocolate bars, thanks! Oh, it's HILLY!! In full: Thanks Deal Tri, the support and encouragement from all of your marshals was brilliant. Enjoyed being squirted by the kids with water pistols too, very polite - they asked first if I wanted squirting! Date of review: May 14, 2012
In short: A real test but very enjoyable In full: This is certainly a hilly (but very scenic) course and not one if you are chasing a PB but every aspect of the race seemed to be very well done. The HQ area offers ample parking and the start/ finish area on the private road are both excellent facilities, the half mile or so walk between the two isn't really that far. Very well marshalled and just the right number of drinks stations. One slightly disconcerting thing this year was the number of massive tractors rumbling down the narrow roads but the drivers of these (and indeed the other cars) were patient and courteous, so I experienced no problems. I like the mug as a momento, presume that the "two mug" offer was because the organisers had bought them in for the original running of the event (numbers for the revised date were somewhat down). Definitely one that I would do again - thanks to deal Tri for the organisation. Date of review: May 14, 2012
In short: Tough, but a great work -out In full: One of the hardest halfs in Kent. There are a lot of hills and only the last couple of miles provide any sustained relief. However, that's not necessarily a bad thing - the course is a real challenge and very rewarding if you run well.
Excellent marshalling and water stations. The support was much appreciated and Deal Tri put a lot of effort into making it an enjoyable occasion.
Nice race venue with hot food and drink on offer and personally, I didn't mind it being a mile or so away from the start ( ideal for a warm up/warm down) although I might not have appreciated it on a cold, wet day.
I hope the runner who collapsed in sight of the finishing line is OK - always sad to see that happen to a fellow runner. Date of review: May 13, 2012
In short: Very scenic - tough hills In full: Well organised race, testing, but scenic route. Well worth the visit. Nice touch with the individual result print out at the end. I thought the race suited the change of date - very picturesque Date of review: May 13, 2012
In short: Very hilly Hq miles from start but great support In full: Its a very hilly course PBS would be very few and far between. Also the HQ is about a mile away from the start finish line. But the support is great most of the way round. And no medal you get 2 mugs. Date of review: May 13, 2012
