In short: fantastic organisation and atmosphere In full: Great fun from start to finish. Superb organisation beforehand and on the day, lots of people about to help with queries. Everything you could need at the start - baggage drop, loads of toilets, physio, and hardly any queuing for any of them. Loads of crowd and marshall support all the way round and the bands along the way were excellent. The first bit was a rather congested, but to be expected with old city streets and thousands of people, the rest of the course had plenty of room for everyone. The medal is so big and heavy I think I might use it as a door knocker! The T-shirt and goody bag also great quility. Thanks to all involved for a great day. Date of review: May 17, 2016
In short: Favourite half marathon In full: This is not a flat course at all, plenty of gradual uphills and not to mention the last mile of dig deep and keep breathing till the finish line!! Date of review: May 17, 2016
In short: Superb organisation from start to finish! In full: Very impressed with this HM. Fantastic organisation, great crowds, wonderful pacers, enjoyable bands en route, flat ish route (last mile a bit of a struggle for me!). Loved the medal and t-shirt too. Definitely entering again! In short: Was very well organised and the support by the city was brilliant on the route. Could have allocated pens at the startling based on runner's expected finish times; Was very busy at the start and struggled to get past the slower runners for 3 mi Date of review: May 17, 2016
In short: Another well organized Chester Half, with some good support on the way In full: Well organized as ever - a great race. I'll just mention a couple of minor points for further improvement - I'm sure the organizers of this event read this and take note!
At the start, the signs indicating where to line up, based on estimated finish time, read 'sub-1:30' and 'sub-1:40'. I'd have prefered it if they had simply read '1:30', '1:40' - then I'd know exactly where to line up based on my estimated finish time. The prefix 'sub' just makes things a bit more confusing. (Just behind the 'sub-1:30' sign got -very- crowded, pehaps as a result.)
The other thing is that the timing mats at some of the intermediate points seem somewhat out of place, by up to about a minute either way. Not that this is much of a concern, but it is nice to be able to have accurate 10k, half-way, 10 mile splits.
(One last thing - I still prefer the old course. I miss the -real- hill at the end!) Date of review: May 27, 2015
