In short: Excellent event. Amazing atmosphere. Very well organised. In full: Superbly put together by Andy and Chris. Training runs and pre race emails/preparations fantastic. Excellent facilities pre and post race. Fab tshirt and goody bag at the end. Marshals very supportive and encouraging. Plenty of much needed water stations and jelly beans yummy!! Already signed up again for next year although my legs are telling me I'm mad!!! Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: Brilliant again! In full: Faultless yet again. Andy and Chris know how to put on a race. Everything you could want as a runner is covered. Other nice touches include kids receiving a decent tech t-shirt and medal after the mini run and Haribo in the goody bag!
Can't wait to be back next year.... Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: Very well organised race with brilliant atmosphere In full: Nice enough route with a great finish and good crowds all the way around. The route is not flat but most of the gradients are gentle. The main exception being the last mile, which was really testing but so crowd lined that stopping isn't an option.
I'm not normally bothered by medals but this one is really nice. Tee-shirt and goody bag are decent too.
The only other race I've done that has similar levels of organisation is Chester Marathon by the same organisers.
Definitely one to do again. Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: Extremely well organised, such a boring route! In full: Of all the sites to see in chester and the route takes you out the country roads for 11.5 miles of it! At the beginning you see about a mile of the city as you start off from the racecourse and then the last mile coming back into the city. All there was to see was the odd nice house or hotel, hedges and trees that lined the side of the road. On the positive side, excellent organisation- faultless really. Brilliant medal, t shirt and goody bag, lucozade drinks and gels on route alongside countless water stations. Biggest highlight: the last mile-running back into the city to cheering crowds and having your name read out over the microphone as you crossed the line. Date of review: May 19, 2014
In short: Great organisation & well marshalled; supportive crowds & well supplied drinks stations; good course, great finishing experience. I'll be back In full: Well done Andy & Chris and their legion of brilliant volunteers. This is a great race, with fantastic support (even out in the countryside), over a good course with tons of potential ... if only it hadn't been so hot! But can't blame the organisers for that! The final hill has actually been levelled off a little compared to last year, so that was welcome. And as for the crowds over that last fast flat 300m, they really do make for a fantastic finishing experience.
Thanks to everyone involved; I'll be back :D Date of review: May 19, 2014
