In short: Downhills that make you feel like a kid again! In full: What a fantastic race. Impeccable organisation, a genuine challenge and fantastic Marshall support from beginning to end. The course is tough, but if you train well and give it the respect it deserves you will have a great time. Managed to break 2:50 at my first attempt, you can guarantee I will be back next year to try and better it! Date of review: June 24, 2013
In short: An organisational masterpiece through beautiful countryside, but not for the faint hearted. In full: A really testing course with the super steep downhills doing as much damage as the uphills. Has a bit of everything, road, lane, trail, field, forest and orchard but never seemed to flatten out. The marshalls were excellent, numerous and popped up in the most remote of places. The water stations were great and very social. Running into a very stiff headwind for the last exposed 3km was soul destroying with these aching limbs and this weary mind striving for the sub 3hr mark but the finish appeared from behind a hedge and there was everything one could want. Music, water, oranges, showers and a great big goody bag. Everyone must do this race. Date of review: June 24, 2013
In short: Here's to the next 30 years of the race! In full: Super race - nice mix of open views and woodland, and no two kilometres the same, so it stays interesting. Excellent organisation - super marshals and route marking, and it was great to have markers every km. The sold-out 600 capacity meant it felt buzzy but not too big. Date of review: June 24, 2013
In short: Very well organised, Great Scenery, but not to be taken lightly In full: This is an unusual race which you cannot compare to any other race in distance and the nature of the course and the elevation, which maxes out about 580ft.
I'm luckily enough to live local to this race and have trained on most of the course before the day, however I still found it very challenging.
The whole race was very well organised and there were some many nice touches, such as free tea and cakes to all runners at the finish. I was also very pleased with my T-shirt, medal and goody bag which included a very nice Towel.
My hat goes off to the organizers, it must take a lot of effort to organize a race of this magnitude. There were so many obstacles, styles and a few crossings which were all marshaled incredibly well.
Also having followed the race's facebook page I was kept updated daily leading up to the race about the course conditions, which was very helpful.
If you are up for a challenge this race is for you, but I recommend that you include some hill training beforehand. Date of review: June 24, 2013
In short: OUTSTANDING EVENT In full: This really is an outstanding event. In my opinion, the thing that really sets it apart is the atmosphere. From the minute you sign up to this you feel part of something special. The facebook page is busy and fun; the organisation was first rate; and the marshals were the best BY FAR that I've ever seen. So friendly and encouraging! You even get encouraging spectators which is unusual for a trail race. The course itself is challenging but not overly so. For me the hardest part was the final 6k or so which included a few climbs that I probably should have kept a bit more in the tank for. The headwind down the final straight was also rather tough! All in all a genuinely special event that everyone should have a crack at. Amazing!
In short: Fantastic Event In full: A great race, thanks and congratulations to the organisers. Scenery is spectacular if you can look up and take it in. Course is tough but don't be put off - just approach it with respect. Special thanks to the marshalls and water station helpers, especially the chaps offering beers (!) and those handing out jelly babies, energy drinks and spraying us with the garden hose - bliss! Will definately enter for next year and train a bit harder for it. Date of review: June 24, 2013

In short: Great race, excellently run In full: Hard but not impossible race. Don't be put off by the hills if you want to do this, the big one is very steep but shortlived otherwise the course is undulating. Great Marshalling and lovely atmosphere at the finish. Date of review: June 24, 2013
