In short: First half marathon - won't be my last
In full: Lovely flat course for the most part, didn't notice the incline on the way up to the dam as everyone was still grouped together but it was great coming down it after mile 12, picked up a little extra speed with gravity as my friend! Couldn't have asked for better weather, overcast, cooling breeze, although it did get warmer towards the end (in my case after around 2hours). Organisation was excellent, plenty of loos at the start, water stations were nice and regular (although I was expecting one at 9 miles and cruely had to trudge on to mile 10 before it appeared oasis-like through the trees!), Scenery was beautiful - I've walked round the lake before in February but running it when all the trees were in leaf was spectacular. It was a bit disconcerting crossing the dam after a mile and a half as I could look across the lake and all I could think was "I'm supposed to go all the way around that?!" but it ended up being so much easier than I'd anticipated (I never thought I'd use words like "easier" and "enjoyable" in reference to a half marathon!). The only sad thing was before the start you couldn't hear the tannoy from the back so missed the start of the minutes silence.

All in all though a thoroughly enjoyable day - I definately want to try it again next year :o)

In short: It was well worth the drive from Kent that morning! I definitely want to make this an annual event but I have to say to the people who think that the course is tough need to come and run Hastings or Maidstone. Sorry, I know I sound biased but reall

In short: Brilliant
In full: My first 1/2 marathon. Fantastic course, hardly noticed the "hill" at the start and the gradual incline at about half way, everything else seemed flat. Superb organization, great atmosphere, encouraging spectators, plenty of water stops oh and not forgetting the picture postcard scenery. I never thought I would say that I "enjoyed" a 1/2 marathon but I really and truly did.

In short: Well Deserved Status
In full: I was a Vyrnwy first timer and only now do I understand why this race fills up so early in the year. A terrific, fast, scenic, well organised event. My heart felt thanks to all of Doug's family and friends for making this event happen despite their tragic loss.

In short: Excellent race. Great scenery, fast flat course and well organised
In full: Congratulations to Doug Morris's family and Oswestry for still organising such a good race despite their loss.
And respect to the runners (apart from the person with the beeping heart rate monitor - you know who you are) for respecting the minute's silence so well.
