In short: Good experience for a beginner.
In full: I'm well in to my sixth decade but this was my first ever race; tuning up for a marathon in January. First 4K, mostly uphill, were a bit of a killer and I probably went off too quickly. However, achieved negative splits and came in at 50.20. Great race, well organised, friendly people and a special thanks to the person who encouraged me when I was suffering on the last up hill.

In short: Fantastic way to start a Sunday morning!
In full: Everything was just great, well done organisers and thank you. Route was pretty, the colours of trees quite stunning, the hill not too horrendous and the cakes after were to die for. The fireman who gave me my medal was certainly not bad either! It's a must for next year.

In short: fantastic!
In full: I had been slightly apprehensive about this race as not sure what "mixed terrain" would mean, and, with it being a small race and me a 'fun runner' I thought I might be one of the slowest...

But it was so welcoming, everyone was friendly, nice ladies with amazing cakes... the route was faultless - a nice mix of roads and muddy country lanes and a lovely woody section. The hill from miles 2-4 IS difficult but I'm no athlete and I managed it, and the steep downhill after certainly allowed for recovery of body...and speed! Some beautiful views and the last half was flat, with a nice river stretch in the last 1k. although the narrow path here meant i was stuck behing runners slower than me as i was pushing for the finish. still I pb'd though so excellent! Transport from London was easy - rail replacement buses were regular and although I had to up at 5am it was worth it.

Definitely one for the diary in 2009. - Thankyou to the organisers.

In short: First Race Very Good
In full: I liked it. Being in a race for the first time was interesting after having gone on endless training runs on my own (including running the same course a month earlier): I found myself drawn very easily to my limit which was nice ... when it was over.
Very pleased to be around so many other runners for once.

In short: Hill at the beginning never seems to get any easier, but made up for by long downhill stretch.
In full: Usual good organisation by the Terry & his team with monies going to very good causes. Still a challenging course due to first 2 miles being uphill. Facilities are good & plenty of snacks & drink at the finish. Wide range of prize categories giving all age ranges a chance of winning something.

In short: Loved it, Loved it!
In full: Loved the atmosphere, most importantly really friendly! Hilly start not bad at all. Downhill little tricky but aided recovery of the uphill. Beautiful views. It's the first time I have done this & I'll definately do it again.

In short: My first time - but I'll be back
In full: What a wonderful race. Beautiful views from the top of the hill. An enjoyably interesting route - there were no boring bits. Superbly marshalled, very friendly, and the tea and gorgeous cakes at the end were to die for!
