In short: This race restored my faith in humanity. In full: Bloody brilliant. What an event this is!!! Organisation could not have been better, the course is fast and it's the marshals were something else. They stood there for hours in the torrential rain cheering us on. It was truly heart warming.
Race HQ was pretty cool too. I'm not one for Scunthorpe United FC but it was a bit of a privilege to be changing in the away team dressing room.
I was initially sceptical about the fairly high entry fee but during the event I could really see where that money was being spent. Brilliant medal, t-shirt and cake at the end.
Without any shadow of doubt I'll be back next year.
Big thanks to the marshals. Date of review: May 4, 2015
In short: Wet, windy, flooded but great In full: Well organised. Flat, good marshalling, lots of support on a terrible day for weather. Managed a PB which was wonderful. Over 75% on my age grading. Car parking was a bit cramped and some had difficulty getting out of space Date of review: May 4, 2015
In short: Worth the trip, and the drenching! In full: It's a shame you can't organise the weather, this was the wettest race I've ever run. It didn't dampen the enthusiasm of the marshals though who were all excellent. Drawbacks of this race: a long & soggy hike to the start, no portaloos en route. Plus points: first rate race HQ, plenty of drinks stations, jelly bean station half way, great support throughout, well organised race, flat & scenic. Will definitely be back. In short: Race is organised by runners for runners, and it shows. One of best organised events I've entered in more than 33 years running In full: Despite the torrential rain, this event ran like clockwork. Glanford Park is the perfect HQ, with all the facilities needed and plenty of toilets, although there was some issues for some getting to and from the carpark. Race set off 5 minutes late to allow some latecomers to get to the start, but those waiting were kept informed by tannoy. Roads totally closed to traffic and mainly flat and fast. Marshals and drink stations were fantastic (bottles AND cups of water available), considering the heavy rain, and jelly babies and jelly beans at a couple of points was a bonus. Atmosphere in the stadium for the finish was fantastic and at the finish everyone received a bottle of water, medal, excellent technical t-shirt, sports bag containing crisps, sweets, chocolate and flyers. Excellent value. At the prize giving there were cups and cash prizes for all categories for 1,2 and 3 up to Vet 70+. First event I put into my race organiser every year, I'll definitely be back next year Date of review: May 4, 2015
In short: Even in torrential rain the best half marathon ever. In full: 3rd time I have run this event - it is fantastic. The communication from entering to finishing is second to none. It was horrendous weather but the volunteers were fantastic so very supportive as were the spectators. Proud to be from Lincolnshire as they put on superb friendly events suitable for the elite to the beginner. If you haven't run this you must put it on your list to do. Date of review: May 4, 2015
In short: It gets better each year In full: Even on a day with dreadful weather, I really enjoyed the event. It's so well organised with lots of information shared for weeks beforehand. One of the best goody bags around and a stadium finish. It's dead flat and fast. What's not to love? Everyone should do this race at lest once! Date of review: May 4, 2015
