In short: Fantastic friendly well organised race! In full: This was my first Hook race after being recommended by a few friends and I wasn't disappointed. A lovely scenic undulating course without the crowds of runners to push through at the start like some of the big races. The course was superbly marshalled and the event ran like clockwork. A superb race that I'd recommend to anyone - and a PB to boot! Thank you to the organisers - a job very well done! Date of review: May 15, 2011

In short: Small friendly race, nice atmosphere. In full: I ran the 6 mile event. Quite a small number of runners compared to other events meant easy parking, short loo queues and a relaxed start!
My only criticism is that I had to fight my way past people doing the 2.5 mile fun run at about 4 miles who seemed to be blocking the paths in places. Date of review: May 15, 2011

In short: A friendly welcome for my first 10 miler! In full: Was very pleased the undulating description was just that, some fairly long 'slopes' but nothing too intimidating for a beginner. A small field and was a little worried when it seemed everyone sped off at the start but found a couple of running buddies on route that kept me going, so thank you! Well marked out course, lovely marshalls and plenty of water stops. Date of review: May 19, 2010

In short: Great 10 miler In full: Thanks to all involved,my third race here and loved it. This year i was using the race as a warm down as marathon on Sunday,so really enjoyed it lol. Ran my pb last year and was looking at the course on the way round thinking wow..that was a good pb as i think the course is a bit challenging in places.but have to come back next year and beat my pb..lol but thanks to the marshals who where great and everyone at the water stations, who encouraged everyone to keep going...loved the finish as always...just a great race ...thanks Date of review: May 18, 2010

In short: Super duper 6 miler..... In full: Brilliant atmosphere, smooth organisation, lovely course, super crowd......
As a first timer (first ever road race) i was very impressed with how it all came together. I was made to feel very welcome and i thoroughly enjoyed my run.
Lovely touch when the mic man says your name as you sprint in :O)
Big thanks to the man who did my sports massage..... it was needed.
I'll be back next year for sure. Date of review: May 18, 2010

In short: Top event. In full: I really do like this event. Great organisation, huge numbers of marshals along the mixed (town & countryside) course. Right number of water stations. The course itself has a few lumps in it but nothing too serious. I thought the safety car driving along the main road to slow the traffic down was a wonderful touch - thanks. A nice village fete feel. Results up quickly too. Thanks Hook, see you next year. Well done. Date of review: May 17, 2010

In full: Well done to Mr K and Foxy Lady. I thought I'd get the mention in early and was good to see you both at this nice little testy course. It beat me but MR K was strong as usual. Thanks for sticking with me for a while mate!..
I usually enjoy this distance but Sunday was not 'my day'. I had to walk/trot from 7 miles onwards; may have been the temperature or something, but had to strip off to feel the air on my body so ended up topless!.. Apologies to anyone who saw that. Not a pretty site but just had to be done. Oh well, there’s always next year I guess. :-(

In short: Well organised and enjoyable. In full: I was a bit worried when I saw it was quite a small field for the 10miler, but a lovely route and I really enjoyed it. Were I to be totally picky- maybe a different coloured ribbon for the different distance races? Date of review: May 16, 2010
