In short: A fantastic race, one you'll want to do again and again. In full: The heat this year was incredible ad I suspect affected a lot of ppl. The marshals were fantastic tho and there were more than enough water stops. Locals got on board and sprayed us with hoses. Don't be fooled by the fun first 11 miles. Once you hit the road there are some evil hills. I've done this race twice now and still love it. No PB potential but a race you will enjoy taking part in. Nice medal, plentiful goody bag and free cake at the end!!! Date of review: July 9, 2013
In short: Excellent race, great fun In full: Well organised, great scenery, plenty of water stations, wonderful marshals & big goody bag = a very special race. On such a hot day, the water stations were well tested & passed with flying colours. The home owners en route with hoses spraying down runners were also welcome. Excellent organisation & facilities at race HQ and novel touches such as the highland piper added a sense of fun. Plenty of post race goodies on the finish line - homemade cake, local beer & the best goody bag i've seen, & all enjoyed to the sounds of a brass band. Will be back next year. In short: Unique and challenging race that is superbly organised. In full: Whilst the conditions were sweltering, Wadhurst runners really went all out to make sure that runners were well catered for. I cant praise the decision to provide bottled water at he water stations enough, as it meant that runners could hold onto a water supply for much longer than your average plastic cup allows! This is not a race to set a fast time, but that's not what its about. If you're after something different to your average half marathon I couldn't recommend anything more rewarding and satisfying. In short: Great run, just not sure about the finish In full: Would like to echo all the previous comments, great run around lovely Bewl Water, just a bit too hot for me and last 5 miles very hard.
My only suggestion might be: from my point of view when I finish a race like Bewl, my first thoughts are Shower, sit down and then coffee?cake. So I wanted to go back to HQ, have my shower and relax, therefore no afters for me!
Also when I did get back they were announcing winners (yes, I was that slow), but to a nearly empty hall, most people were still enjoying the post race refreshments back at the finish, which seemed a bit of a shame for the fast guys with not many to applaud their achievements.
Not a criticism, just my preference, but a fantastic run, really enjoyed it!! Date of review: July 8, 2013
In short: Fun in the sun to win a free bun! In full: Martin Burke of Nice Work and Wadhurst runners put on a great event, the route was well marshaled and signed, I felt well hydrated and supported throughout, the home made banana cake at the end and the friendly ambiance finished off a perfect day... note to self..finish quicker and get a free beer next year! thank you Bewl 15 team.
