In short: one of my favourites
In full: Good example of how a race should be. Ample parking, great facilities and fantastic organization. I have never seen so many marshalls.

Must not forget tasty home made cakes were superb!

In short: RoadRunner from Croydon - My 1st 10 miler!
In full: Having only ever ran a 10K as my longest distance this was to be my biggest running challenge to date.
Upon arrival I was aware of the pedigree of runners I was with, lots of running clubs! Not being a member of one I was just keen to break the 6 mile mark and get a 10 under my belt.
The course was nice and open on traffic-free country lanes, a nice change from the concrete of Croydon and London in general. I enjoyed the first couple of miles knocking out a few 7min miles (downhill obviously & I threw a glance over my right shoulder and spotted the 8 mile marker... more of that soon!)
I was bang on the mark with my PB of 48mins for 10K /6.2 miles which I got last week in Hyde Park in the Run London North v South. After that it was new terroritry for me but I was still in good shape until the 8 mile marker and the start of THE HILL.
It might be nothing to the advanced runner but having run 2 miles furthter than normal at this point I had to dig in , it wasn't too brutal although I could have done without it!
Psychologically the end was near, physically that hill went on for ever! As it levelled out and the support from the crowd became audible I knew I'd cracked it, I put a strong finish in and crossed the line in 1hr 23mins. Today I woke up and did something I've never done before, I finished a 10 mile run!
Good facilites worthy of note in the sports hall with showers / changing facilities and refreshments.
Many thanks to the organisers, marshalls and all involved for a well planned race which was a pleasure to take part in, hope to be back next year for more of the same!
Nice long sleeve t-shirt as a memento, shame no distance on it (my 1st 10 miler!) ;)
