In short: Good spring marathon prep. In full: Start was a bit rushed. Otherwise a good course for a time trial - mildly undulating at worst. Hillingdon Ac should be congratulated on managing to stage this event in a very busy area. I'll certainly come back & run it again sometime in the future. Date of review: March 19, 2007
In short: Great for FLM training the laps were suprisingly a good thing! In full: Great Race for FLM training, quite undulating. More people on water staions prob required and £17 quite expensive.. Goody bags vety good! : ) items them you actually want to eat /drink! : ) . Traffic a bit of a problem, drivers can be very silly sometimes... def do this one again for marathon traing : ) . Marshalls really great ! and organisation excellent! Date of review: March 19, 2007
In short: Brilliant race in lots of ways - fantastic marshals, 4 laps helped mentally, lots of support the whole way round... In full: Well-organised, easy to get to, lots of parking, the 4 laps helped mentally. Brilliant support from the plentiful marshals (who did a great job, especially as it was open to traffic and quite busy) and supporters scattered along the route. A great race in preparation for FLM and one that I would recommend to anyone - see you there next year! Date of review: March 19, 2007
In short: Top race! Excellant PB potential and 4 laps is not a problem! In full: Ok there was a bit of wind but I have to say that the 4 laps flew by and I have decided that I do like races with laps as you can really set yourself targets for each lap. I THINK THIS IS MY MOST FAVOURITE RACE I HAVE DONE!
There is a great chance for a PB, a couple of slopes which make a bit of a challenge and lapping people gives you a real target when running. They also all took it well.
This is a superb pre-London race and gives you a good feeler how you are doing.
Having only started racing in the last 2 years this race seems how I think races were 5 years ago (not that its a bad thing). No chips, no marshalled off roads and no fancy gimmicks as prizes but please dont let this put you off. Put it on your calendar for next year! Date of review: March 19, 2007
In short: Nice race with friendly marshalls! In full: This was my third running of the Finchley 20 and it always seems to be super-windy and I'm sure it gets hillier every year... Despite the slightly soul destroying nature of the 5 mile laps, the race was great because of its good organisation, friendly marshalls and no-nonsense goody bags - you got a mars bar, a box drink and an orange. No messing. Great. Date of review: March 19, 2007
In short: Twenty miles is never going to be easy where ever it is! In full: Three laps is okay, but the fourth lap is just so hard, and that last up hill mile is just so cruel! But the marshalls are great and the tea and cakes at the end make it all worth while. Date of review: March 19, 2007
In short: The laps made for good pacing but the traffic became increasingly annoying ( and occasionally dangerous) In full: Enjoyed the race and managed to gather pace as it progressed. Rather peeved that I would have won a prize if Runner's World had sent the right age data! Date of review: March 19, 2007
In short: Excellent atmosphere and the Marshalls were brillant In full: Besides the pain in the legs, The race was awesome, a few hills which challenged you and the water stops were perfect. Very friendly club, thanks Date of review: March 19, 2007
